Dharna - Double speak exposed

Arvind Kejriwal sat on a Dharna protesting against the central government's control of the state police. His request/appeal to transfer police power to the Delhi state government (which is a norm in ALL other states of India) was dismissed. He was left with no option.

Given the horrendous law and order situation in Delhi, one would think this would be necessary if not essential (link). When a state government has no control over its law-enforcement agency, how can its citizenry expect safety and order?

But the BJP & Congress were quick to spin this out. They pounced on the fact that a government goes on a dharna and called it unconstitutional. How could a CM sit on a dharna, they asked? Calling it "un-democratic", and "anarchist", they questioned this form of governance.

However when it comes to their own acts of defiance it is another story all together. For example; BJP CM Shivaraj Chauhan has called for a dharna on March 6, 2014.
The Statesman: Blame game continues in MP House
Second day of Assembly session disrupted over relief to farmers' issue statesman news service Bhopal, 4 March 'Relief Politics' intensified in Madhya Pradesh today with the state government accusing the Centre of not paying relief package to the state's hail and rain hit farmers while the Opposition Congress alleged that the state government was not doing enough to assuage the suffering of the farmers.

In fact, he is quite a veteran when it comes to Dharnas as the article below suggests.

BJP CM calls for Chakka Jaam/Dharna. This is certainly not unconstitutional - http://www.thestatesman.net/news/42571-Blame-game-continues-in-MP-House.html … #AKinGujarat #AAP pic.twitter.com/ocPIMbw8IH

Congress Chief Ministers have ensured that they are not left behind when it comes to Dharnas!

AP CM Kiran leads anti-Telangana dharna in Delhi, requests President to stop bifurcation

And other CM's have organized Dharna's as well.
Nitish leads Bihar bandh with 5km march, dharna
PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar hit the streets on Sunday for special category status to Bihar and marched nearly 5km from his official residence to Gandhi Maidan where he staged dharna for five hours near Gandhi statue as part of Bihar bandh. He called it 'Satyagraha' to press the demand and protest the Centre's discrimination against the state.

But only Arvind's Dharna was deemed unconstitutional. The BJP wrote blogs on why his dharna was inciting anarchy and is dangerous for the country. While the Congress slammed him as "immature". Asking them to stop their double speak would be asking for too much. more

BOTH BJP & CONGRESS HAVE THOUGHT THAT "DHARNA" IS THEIR BIRTH RIGHT & ANOTHER PARTY, IF DOES IT, WILL BE CALLED "ANARCHIST", "UNCONSTITUTIONAL" & "DESTROYER" FOR THE COUNTRY AS IF BY "DHARNA" (BY WHICH TOOL, OTHER PARTIES MAKE PEOPLE FOOL) THESE ABOVE PARTIES HAVE MADE THE COUNTRY PROSPEROUS & PEACEFUL. IT IS THE MOST SHAMEFUL FOR THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA, POLITICAL PARTIES, MEDIA-HOUSES & OTHER OPPORTUNISTS AS THEY CALLED "ARVIND JI" WITH THE OBJECTIONABLE WORDS RELATED TO "AAP"S DHARNA WHO STEPPED FOR THE WELFARE & RIGHTS AND IN THE INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC. WHAT WILL HAPPEN OF THE COUNTRY IF "AAP" WILL NOT EXIST? more
Absolutely right. All political parties at one time or another, have gone on Dharnas against the center. The lead was provided by West Bengal years back. What has upset BJP and the Congress is "the guts of this fellow who is dependent on us for his gaddi, yet is daring to upstage us. Yeh to kal ka chchokra hai." The only difference this time was that instead of just making a show of it, the CM had the guts and endurance to spend a very cold night on the grasslands of Delhi at the height of winter.Suddenly, a Mahatma Gandhi trait of punishing oneself became an "anarchy"! It exposed the hypocrisy of both the big parties who had ruled Delhi, having passed resolutions in the Assembly on the same topic and then comfortably sleeping on the same. more
