Digital Dream of India - Inputs Needed

Digitization is a huge opportunity for India. Enabling every Indian to connect to the internet and ensuring Government Services are delivered digitally by Central, State and District Administration are a few needed things to achieve this dream

However, it is not an easy road and ensuring sustainable internet connectivity in every part of India, digitization of Govt records are monumental tasks.

With this post we seek your inputs on how can India achieve the digital dream. What needs to happen for rural India to have internet access. What would it take for every Government office to be digitally connected?

Your inputs will be highly valuable as they will help us propose to Government a practical plan on how to execute the Digital India dream.

We look forward to your inputs!

Digital information of all criminal records should be mandatory...The recent eg..One of the culprits of Godhra Massacre was living in Madhya pradesh..He managed to obtain aadhar card, driving license etc and became a respected citizen...Imagine if there were digital records available ...It would have been very easy to identify him.. Infact all the govt ID proofs should have digital records of individual's biometric information ..Eg PAN card,Passport,Voter ID etc... If somebody attempts to make a fake new ID proof ,he can be nabbed easily.. Police stations should heave biometric records of all the criminals ....Its very easy to have a biometric machine in every Police station.. Once a criminal is caught a biometric check of his past activities should be done to ascertain his criminal records... more
Govt can have the BSNL all over india... have 2 or 3 computerised centres to do all the taxation, building permit.. etc., for all govt departments works for the citizens and therefore save on building rent, electricity, bribing, manpower... more
The Digital India dream has two aspects. First is the creation of Digital India through various projects that brings more of Citizens into the benefits of Digital India. It includes development of IT Companies, skills in IT etc. This aspect will be addressed by the Rs 450000 crore contribution from the industry. This has many supporters and will go through. What needs attention on the other hand is how do we protect the Digital India once it is created, from being destroyed by Cyber Criminals, Terrorists and warfare. I donot have confidence that present efforts are properly addressing this concern. We donot have any inkling of a policy in this regard which is Netizen centric. All current policies are industry centric and will only build the mansion and invite people to live there but will not try to protect them there after. I would therefore like to focus on this aspect and have started a separate Special Interest Group through a local circle titled "Save Digital India from Cyber Frauds". I invite like minded persons to join together in this Netizen initiative, developments of which can be shared with this forum from time to time. Naavi of Naavi.org more
Digital Dream of India - Inputs Needed As a part of digital dream when we switch on to cashless society, cyber insurance should be provided to all citizens against cyber frauds. more
I have firm belief in vision and capability of Mr Narendra Modi, our PM. I am confidant that with the involvement of private sector, concept of DIGITAL INDIA will take shape. Also, under Sri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Telecommunications, I am confident that even BSNL will be strong competitor. True, the plan is difficult, but it will change governance at all levels. It has potential to reduce corruption significantly. Let us all wish success to NaMo in his plan to change the face of India. more
