(INITIATIVES OF NDMC)

FREE WIFI

Progress till date:-
1. C.P. has been covered by Tata Docomo
2. Khan Market has been covered by Vodafone
3. Tata’s & Vodafone is working on 16 other locates.
4. Reliance Jio is expected to announce its 4G services in whole of NDMC by this month end.

PARKING AUTOMATION
(With Mobile Apps)

One of the responsibilities of NDMC is to manage parking of vehicles in the area of its jurisdiction. NDMC has identified designated parking lots, where people can park their vehicles. NDMC used to contract these parking lots to contractors on license fee basis where the contractors deployed their manpower for collection of parking charges and paid a fixed license fee on monthly basis. In this way of contracting of parking lots, the parking contractors tried to squeeze in as many cars as possible in the parking lot, in order to maximize their profits. They also resorted to other illegal means of earning revenues including encroachment of nearby space/land to extend the parking lot area, overcharging people, allowing illegal activities to be carried out in parking lots, etc.
NDMC decided to cancel all the contracts & gave this to project, to DIMTS on turney basis. The objective of the new parking system through DIMTS is not to maximize the revenue but to improve the parking experience by streamlining the parking operations
NDMC also desired to modernize its parking lots, in order to provide better facilities to people and to enhance the image of the organization and the capital city.
DIMTS put boom barriers, entry and exit terminals, vacancy display boards at about 17 parking lots, where such type of solutions is feasible. At the remaining parking lots, DIMTS deployed handheld terminals with GPRS and contactless smart card reader/writer for issuing parking tickets. A centralized parking database was planned to collects all parking transactions from all parking lots in real-time. Centralized parking database helps in disseminating real-time parking availability position to public and giving inputs on effective traffic and parking planning in the NDMC areas. We have a mobile apps which can help any citizen locate a vacate parking & guide it through the Traffic to reach it. Soon we will have a online booking facility. It has brought transparency in revenue collection & provides hassle free parking to public.
Besides this NDMC today has Asia’s biggest & second biggest fully automatic Multi-level parking.

24 x 7 CALL CENTRE
with in house developed CRM s/w
(With Mobile App)

NDMC runs a 24 x 7 bilingual Call Centre for all complaint & queries. Very unique feature of this service is that the caller only can close a complaint given by him. The CRM s/w is in house developed & each call is tagged on it & acknowledgement & response is through Net/SMS and out bound call. A mobile app for the purpose is expected to be deployed by month end.

MOBILE ATTENDANCE APPLICANCE

NDMC had deployed finger based mobile attendance system for all its employees. Realizing that the field staff had to reach certain designated place to mark its attendance before reaching their place of work particularly the sweepers & gardeners, NDMC worked upon a GPS enabled SIM based finger biometric device which is in custody of a supervisory officer of the area who marks attendance, while taking round of his/her supervised area. It serves two purposes. It forces supervision staff i.e. JE, SO(Hort.), Sanitary Inspector to take a compulsory round of the area besides saving of working hours of our field staff. This will be fully deployed by February 15th, 2015.

REMOTE METER READING

After a detailed study of all the RF (Radio Frequency) & PLC technologies, NDMC has prepared a draft RFP based meter reading reducing manual intervention in water & electricity meter reading. With billing fully automated, remote meter reading will make all supplies & billing fully transparent.

Replacement of Lights (LED Lighting/Cameras/Wifi) by Telecomm Companies
NDMC has floated a RFP for change of all electric lighting with a modern pole having facility for CCTV, LED & Wifi without any cost to the exchequer, offering it all Telecomm Companies. The cost of around `300 crores will be borne by the Telecomm Company who will use these poles as Telecomm annexure. Infact, NDMC is seeking a revenue share in this project. NDMC aims to improve on the current call drop problems in mobile usage in the area as well as expects phasing out of the Mobile Towers in 3 years time.
All this is at no cost to NDMC. Infact we are charging them for use of service ducts or for row. NDMC did handhold them in meetings with Market Associations publishing their services.

3D DIGITAL SMART CITY
NDMC intends to provide anintegrated 3D smart City across all government agencies in the state for Urban planning. The purpose is to develop a 3D smart city Design& engineering which is scalable from 2D to 3D and also acquire, process, store, distribute and improve the utilization of geospatial data standards.
The proposal is to mandate 3D digital smart city for Urban planning for infrastructure (including Digital elevation models and topology, transportation, Green plans and redevelopment plans).
Approximate cost of 3D Smart city modeling is divided into two parts
1. Laser scanning , Ortho-photos, Stitching, Geo- Referencing, Modeling of Building : Rs. 3.8 Lacs approx. per day

2. 3D Modeling-Geo-referencing, Ortho-photos of the other infrastructure areas and facilities: Rs. 7.5 lacs approx. per KM. more

An Initiative towards e-City!!! Really appreciated more
Its really a great vision more
This is what is called development agenda. If all the local bodies get some inspiration from this initiative,I am sure all our cities would be smart cities very soon without any burden on the exchequer. But I feel, some are bent upon derailing this as they find it difficult to manipulate the system for corruption and would see that, a non BJP govt would come into rule Delhi and could upset all these steps very soon. more
