Nowadays almost all shops use digital weighing machine. Are we aware about the calibration of these machines? How can we confirm the accuracy of the machine. Is there any certificate of calibration by the competent authority attached with the measuring instrument? more
The currency in our pocket is ours and we are responsible for the correctness(Fake?) Similarly the establishment using the Digital Weighing Machine is responsible for its correctness and getting it certified nd verified periodically. more
This is serious concern. The standards and weight measurements Act need amendmends. It has to certify every digital weighing machines and make it mandated that every digital weighing machine must display the date on which it was calibrated for the public to know. more
I agree with the concern expressed on regular certified calibration of digital weighing machines, being used by almost all merchandise now a days. I also agree that this is not our job. But the government must make all citizen aware of the requirement of calibration, and also ensure that the department of Weight and Measures carries out their job and issue certificates with dates of verification and date of validity. Also, that all merchandise shall display the cerificates clearly and legibly. Also that the failure to do so shall attract fine and cancellation of license for sale. more
I think periodical verification and certification of these machines as was being done in respect of the manual systems is totally ignored by the concerned department. It has become a common trend of all government departments in present days to become dutiful and act only when the related matters become issues and corrective steps are demanded by common people. more
There must be some legitimate authority which periodically check and calibrate the instrument to ensure against tampering/manipulating weights. On every such instrument date of calibration and authority's symbol and signature must be provided. Surprise checks for veracity is also needed. This is defined as Metrological control. more
