Discriminatory policies in fixing prices of commodities vs farm produce

It's very true! The glaring example is the garment industry, besides similar others. They fix the price themselves, and God knows! who has checked their costing to arrive at it. They show a higher price, cut it out, and quote a lessor one! People blindly buy them. In the case of the poor farmer who toils day and night, he does not have the freedom to fix the price of his produce. It is clearly a discriminatory policy, and the Govt. should do the re-think and help the farmer who feeds the nation. The govt. should buy directly from the farmer thus eliminating the mediators who exploit. more

Renowned Malls are buying fruits, veggies, milk, curds, ghee etc direct from the farmers and selling to us the commoners, fresh farm products all over Delhi and NCR. I am sure that enterprising farmers are getting benefits without intervention of any government. more
I had touched upon this issue, while all the manufacturers (seller) fix prices of their products, farmers (seller) cannot because of variety of reasons. In case of farm produces, prices are determined by buyers. Very strange! I understand there are some laws governing product manufacturing. Some knowledgeable members in the group can extend their knowledge to take this issue forward. more
There is need to check MRP of every product including medicines. Situation become worse when there is cartel. Govt should not involve in handling every business. It leads to high cost, pilferage, wastage as nody is accountable. Few years back, MP govt purchased thousands of tons onion to stabilize prices. After few months, 90% got rotten due to unsafe storage. Whose money went to gutter - not of govt but tax payers. No body was sent to jail for this grave negligence. more
even you can see in the garment industry where they are offering 4 free at the cost of two garments i.e. total 6 garments. This can be resolved if the government can put the Tax on the MRP of the product. This is also can be seen in the Pharma industry and at one time in liquor in Delhi where they are one free with one. In this way they can increase their revenue also. more
Another example is Electrical industry. HOW is MRP arrived at is a mystery. That is why we see electrical items beings sold as high discounted rates on MRP more
