We are home of more than 121crores people but does our railway resources are ready to carry such a large population. If answer is yes then what happens in festival season, and what we do for people traveling in general class because of economic situation. Have anybody seen the general coach during festivals like diwali, holi, christmas, Id-Ul Fitr etc. We are discussing lot of things but why don't we think about a person who is traveling in general bogy to save money because he can't spent more. we have hardly 5-6 coaches in express/superfast trains while there is huge requirement for more coaches for long journey trains as local people move in passenger trains. Why don't we make a system that a person can get a ticket by sending an SMS to a particular number because it is not easy to stuck in long ques for ticket and nobody like it. Although govt runs special trains during festival season but not sufficient. I have one suggestion that during festival season trains must get 10-15 general coaches and these coaches must be in middle not in the corners. Because if due to long distance of train some coaches are out side the platform then these coaches must be reserved coaches because these are internally linked to each other but general coaches are completely separated from each other. more
Scientific management of the available infrastructure is the need of the hour, which I feel Railways lack. Just for instance, a new weekly train between LTT (Mumbai ) and Hubli arrives at 0300 hours at Hubli. I am not very sure whom it will help. more
Any body can travel in Udayan train from Mumbai to Pune without ticket by only paying ₹ 20 to tc in reserve compartments. In udayn train man cannot rest or properly sit till Gulbarga from Mumbai more
We had a practice of running special trains during festivals. It seems Railways have discontinued this practice. If special trains are run during all festivals such huge rush can be controlled. Hopefully the new Government will consider the common issues of the public and take steps to eliminate maximum issues. more
Our system is not made to handle this much amount of traffic. For efficient travel we need a train every hour in all directions from wherever we are. Make is a hub & spoke model, increase the speed, thereby increase the capacity of the trains. Just adding few more coaches will not solve the problem. I agree the general compartments are pathetic. We can see literally hundreds of people packed into the coaches and tens of them dangerously clinging on to the door handles. more
