Disdainful attitude of the Opposition towards the Prime Minister
Now, the Chief ministers like Mamta Banarjee, Nitish Kumar, Naveen Patnaik, a boor like Siddharamaiah, and even an Ally like Prakash Singh Badal are emboldened to indulge in graceless and personal criticism of PM or show openly uncooperative attitude towards the PM. Jayalalithaa, CM of TN thinks that she is the supreme person in the entire country. Today, it seems that Nitish Kumar is going to write an open letter to the PM about his DNA barb delivered while he was in Patna. On one hand, all these CMs have gone to Centre with begging bowl for one reason or the other. On the other hand, they try to bite the hand that feeds them.
It seems to me that the managers in BJP who have to monitor and control the relationships with other leaders are unable to utilise the advantages they enjoy to the hilt. Coupled with the weakness of NDA government in the Rajya Sabha, it seems to me that the BJP leaders have become timid and are pussy footing around powerful opposition leaders and opposition CMs. After Manmohan Singh, I am afraid, Modi is becoming the object of parodies, and lampooning. This does not bode well for the country.
Even other major countries monitor our Center-State relationships in order to know, to what extent the PM is in command of the country. If the Central government and the PM do not appear to be working from a position of strength, it will devalue the image of the PM abroad. more
