For senior citizens ( I am one of them) before boarding please logon to type your train number in space provided. You will get by default time table along with map of train showing location of each coach from engine. It makes travelling a bit easier even if platform does not have display board showing location of each coach. more
Electronic Display system is a recent phenomenon. All stations, specially small village stations, can't afford this. Name of stations are written normally at both ends of a platform. Day time, it can be seen & read. In the night time end area of platforms at such village stations are invariably dark. Lamp posts focusing on the names of stations are needed for safety of passengers reaching their destinations in dark hours. more
Most of the stations at which Important Trains stop do not have any display system or they do not perform. And for this Rly. should not collect information from passengers instead they have sufficient infrastructure to list them. Pray GOD to bless GOODWILL to Rly. authorities more
On the 25th May, 2019 we were to board Hum Safar Express running between Delhi to Durg at Mathura Jn. We were 3 senior citizens (two ladies) with luggages. The porter left the luggages at one spot saying that our coach generally used to be nearby and he will come back just prior to arrival of the train to load the luggages in the coach. We were waiting for the display of position of the coaches which didn't happen till arrival of the train. The stoppage was for two minutes only. Therefore we had to wait impatiently with anxiety and to our dismay on arrival of the train on the platform our coach was found to be on the other end of our waiting and with great difficulty we could board the train before its moving. Incidentally, the position of the coaches for a train left the said platform around 20/25 minutes earlier was displayed. This is a serious lapse of the station management who are liable for disciplinary action. Another tendency developed in majority of stations is that in the event of any train delayed beyond scheduled time, the announcers do not speak about that train for hours until they get any specific signal of its arrival putting the waiting passengers into anxiety and making them restless. Instead, they go on announcing continuously for hours for the trains already arrived or about to arrive without caring for the waiting passengers of the delayed train(s). This is a bad tendancy and must me corrected. more
