Disproportionate cancellation charges by Airlines

Recently a consumer bound for travel to Delhi-Ahmedabad-Delhi by AirIndia bought tickets at a total cost of Rs. 6,243/- . However, the tickets were to get cancelled due to exigencies and got cancelled her tickets five days prior to the schedule of onward journey and eight days prior to the return journey. It was surprised to see that the traveler got refund of amount of Rs. 493/- only deducting Rs. 5,750/- as cancellation charges. In my view such level of cancellation fee is unfair and is beyond justifiable. We need to take up issue with DGCA, the regulatory agency in the case of Airlines. I would request members about their views on the issue so as to make a memorandum to DGCA for fixing the cancellation fee to be reasonable. Any other points that may be required to include in our memorandum may please be suggested. Your active participation in making such a memorandum to DGCA shall be appreciated. more

If you check the original tickers, you will find that the tax amount itself is more than Rs.1000/- which means that the refund should be atleast equal to the tax amount even if all the remaining money is forfeited. How can tax be collected on a cancelled sale, i.e. a sale not made ? Has the airline deposited the tax collected in government treasury ? I have raised this issue previously too, but no action on it. more
Easy money . Every one wants easy money without any contribution. see the seat choice charges in airlines. Every one knows it is loot. But no one attends. The concerned authorities might not have received complaint from customer. May be they do not consider facts and act on them. more

Rajsthan Company account No,Canopus Total services and 90000/ I paid the amount they said that their Lawyer will come to my place to make the agreement and disbursement. But nobody came and there was no communication from them. Finally I called them and they said to guarantor and stamp duty to initiate the disbursement process. They said that was the final amount to be paid for disbursement. And after the payment they mailed me a letter same.. have requested for refund and he said that they will do the same, but i don't believe in them further. The person Mr, VIVEK, Miss,YASHIKS MATHOOR, GUNJAIN, SONAM, ABHISHEK, NEHA SHARMA, Many more new person receive call and deny no sir is not here he is busy, call after some time and i lost 11 month but not receive loan , and no refund my amount. he has not switched off the mobile only busy tone he is communicating with me still today. Please call me if possible on the given number 9702189582/ 9619178830 more
Cancellation charges is the profit model for Airlines companies. They have done their homework right . Around 40 to 50% tickets get cancelled. This should be addressed by Ministry of Aviation. more
Recently we bought 5 tickets for Bom-Del-Udaipur-Bom and paid Rs 64000.But due to changed circumstances we had to cancel the ticket. We cancelled the tickets about 2 months prior to departure. But we got a refund of Rs 8000/- only and we lost Rs 58000/-.I think the Govt regulator should look in to this aspect so that cancellation charges are brought to about 10% of the ticket cost. more
