Do online OTT/streaming platforms need content regulation

Recently some members raised the issue of lots of objectionable content and language being used in movies and more so in video series run by sites/apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, etc. Consequently, we met with the I&B Ministry and conducted the survey on how OTT platform content should be regulated

Below is the survey report for your review and sharing on social media. We will be sharing the same with the ministry requesting them to take necessary actions.

How India uses OTT platforms and wants them regulated?

If you have additional inputs on the subject, please do share at the earliest. more

OTT Plat forms are also like DTH connections or TV channels. They also can/should be regulated. They are not free, but on payment. They don't change the address as other objectionable sites. They too can be controlled/ regulated as is being done with movies/ TV channels and DTH more
Like any other activity they also required to be regulated in in interest of all types of users more
Negativity, filthy language, words and sentences with double meaning, dirty actions are now part of our culture. The old culture of India is history. If you see and hear the young generation in movies, both girls and boys enjoy this filth, which may be objectionable for us but not for this generation. When cencer is passing all this, what can one do. TV serials are the same. Full with scheming bahus and negativity. Gay is now legal, live in is now acceptable, single mother is now becoming examples with stars showing the way. It is all a matter of time you are in. So, now, what so ever feedback local circles get, nothing will be done. more
I have seen school / college going kids using mobile phones. I feel like we should introduce two types of mobile connections 1) Student connection and 2) Regular Connection. When applying for a new mobile number, if the connection is for a minor (below 18 years of age, it should be a student connection). And in student connection, there should be a restriction on the content / sites allowed for visit. Student connection should allow only educational institution websites. Regular connection should be provided for those who are above 18 years and it should work as it is now. more
Already censor board is deleting all the contents which are the face of society if one wants to project it through films, now OTT platforms are based on the reel life which is the reality of today's society hence cutting more will not be helpful. more
