Do something about heavy OPD Charges

Recently I had to take my father for an OPD consultation to an orthopaedic in North Delhi and the simple leas than 5 minute consultation charge was 2000 rupees in a trust hospital.

Similarly for my son a pediatrician OPD charges were 1700 rupees.

Kejriwal ji can you fix this. Can the OPD charges in Delhi be a max of 1000 rupees for specialist/surgeon and 800 for General Physician?!

This will help the population of Delhi. more

If the subject hospital is indeed run by "a trust" , then the aggrieved party has the right to complain to the FM, Secy (Revenue) and Chairman, CBDT having regard to the recognition/registration granted to the trust under sections 12AA/80G of the Income Tax Act and also to the profit motive in the "business" being run by the hospital under the academe of a charitable trust. more
OPD Charges should not exceed Rs 500 in any case. Ravindra Kapoor more
Chitra Kumar- do live in one of the 2000 slums and unauthorized colonies of Delhi & see the rate at which Numbers are added to our city, leading to shortages of resources, besides creating law & order problems in our colonies, where these folks start working. These colonies aree favored by Kejriwal & prior to him by Shiela Dixit who gave them Voting Rights with proper voter id cards. Any numbers of Charitable Centers are not sufficient to meet the need for Healthcare of this huge number of society living among us. I & you will embrace them, educate them ,relocate them for better future but they Consider our kind Gestures as our Weakness, specially if it is a charitable center managed by a woman doctor. Preach Dreaded Family Planning & Equality of Genders to them, that is if you Dare to go to a Slum and live among them for just a day ! I am not diverting issue from charges of Private doctors in 5 star nursing homes. Remember that every 5 star facility of waiting in AC room are paid by us,the patients. People flaunt 5 star nursing homes in kitty groups & criticize doctors on this forum. Not Fair. more
Dr.Nath...society would always have a mix of good, bad & ugly. You named Kejriwal & Sheila Dixit...is BJP any better? Haven't you seen how Shiv Sena(controlling Municipal) & BJP - CM Devendra Fadnavis are least bothered about 30,000 Maharashtrian citizens who were shifted to Mehul residing there between the smog and haze of 4 Petrol Refineries? Fact of matter is none of our politicians are washed in milk...everybody had their own hidden agenda and vote bank. We had illegal Bangladeshi migrant labors and many still continue to live in Delhi-NCR...add to that the recent influx of Rohingiya Muslims from Bangladesh...this besides our already burgeoning population of poor. Hospitals..even Star Hospitals were given land to build by DDA with commitment of catering to 10% BPL & Weaker section...it is only on paper. Poor would be driven away from the Door of the Hospital itself. As I started my statement with bifurcation of good & bad...similarly in Medical fraternity also there are good Doctors and also bad Doctors. more
Land to all Hospitals is allotted on subsidized rates & Delhi Govt. has full rights to regulate OPD rates. In my opinion maximum OPD charges should not be beyond Rs 300 as set by CGHS . more
people crib to pay 300/- also. more
Chitraji, I beg to differ here as the City has Doctors for Consultation Fees of Rs. 0 to Rs. 10000, depending on where you are going .. As Virmaniji says above, the prices have to be controlled by Demand and Supply Forces in our Market Economy .. There are lots of good medical facilities at Delhi's Government Hospitals which are nearly free but we have to wait long hours for good Doctors .. But we all just want to go to plush Private Hospitals where the waiting is minimal and good Doctors are readily available !! Rajeevji, Vimhans also has cheaper accommodation available .. what you are talking about is the Luxury Single Room !! Doctors have also spent 8-12 years preparing to be a Specialist at a huge cost and deserve to earn well .. they do so by charging well at the plush Hospitals while doing Social Service at the Centres meant for those, dividing their time as required .. more
Yes I too agree. Many have formed trusts and got a looted prime land at throwaway prices and now charging at high rates. It needs to be fixed as there is difference between profit and greed. more
Ashokji, Land is a one-time-cost only .. the Buildings with proper AC, Equipment, Staff, Doctors and their Maintenance costs a lot, specially if you want to maintain a reasonably High Standard and Quality, be it a Trust or an Institute or a Nursing Home or a Hospital !!

Who will pay for all that ?? There is nothing known as a free lunch ....

With the Population as large as India and with so few Doctors, no one will open more Hospitals and Nursing Homes if there are no Land Subsidies and Tax Breaks !!

How many Medical Colleges are subsidised ?

How many Capital Medical Equipment have Lower GST ?

Otherwise there are the very good Government Hospitals .. what's wrong with them if one finds Rates are a concern ?? Please go and get your Free Lunch there though you have to pay with your Time/Waiting .... more
Virmani sir, one wrong does not justify another one. Wheraboutery serves no point. And we do object to the lawyers fees too. But the issue is they have not used tax payers money for either for their education, or land for the hospital setting up and neither have they been taxed sparingly for the equipment. There's a difference and still when the subject if of lawyers we object to that too. more
