Do we deserve modern facilities?
Often we blame Indian Railways for poor maintenance and also we blame poor village people for damaging the National properties ... saying that they do not know how to use toilet and other amenities. But, what happened this time? Journey of Tejas Express is even more expensive than Shatabdi Express, and surely all the passengers traveled in this train since its inauguration belong to the so called "elite" class of society. Yet, what have we seen? The LCD screens are broken and stolen. Damaged toilet fittings, and garbage scattered over here and there. All in just few days!! I am also sure, all these elite passengers are also accustomed with flight journeys. My question is, will they ever think of snatching away the LCD screens from an aircraft?
Whenever I have traveled in trains in Japan or Europe, I have always thought when would our country have such nice railway coaches, with neat and clean toilets and modern amenities !!! And now when we have started getting at least something, we have immediately started damaging the national properties. In fact, the "fastest" train, Mahamana Express is also experiencing the similar torture. So painful to watch this as an Indian.
Question now arises ... do we really deserve these nice facilities? I do not think we deserve. Let Govt continue with existing designs of coaches. It will be more than sufficient if Govt can ensure some safety, security and punctuality. We should not expect anything else. more
