Doctors Pushing for Vaccine

I dont know if this circle has doctors as well. I feel there is major over charging happening by doctors who sell vaccine at full prices and force one to buy vaccine from their own clinics at MRP.

Also, yesterday the doctor was pushing the Meningococcal vaccine for my child. Is that something that is necessary? Can other parents and if any doctors respond? more

I am a general surgeon...No one can force you .to do things which you don't like......if you suspect something foul..you can change the doctor....it's not a do or die issue... The government has not mandated meningococcal vaccination... You could visit the nearby government health setup to clear the queries.. more
Last two years I am taking flu vaccine, once a year. I am 68 year old. After taking the vaccine, I find that incidences of cough and cold has significantly reduced during the changing seasons. more
It has been understood that doctors charge their patients at MRP for various vaccines and they also charge their fees for giving vaccine injections and thus making money at the cost of patients. They get these vaccines, from their suppliers, at vary low rates, compared to MRP and thus make huge profit. A common man does not have the access to whole sellers or distributors and thus he does not have any other option but to be robbed by doctors. We can not expect any better measures from politicians and bureaucrats for reasons best known to all of us. more
I'ts very common now a days. Pharma companies, doctors, retailers, hospitals are many a times hand in gloves and they exploit the poor patients. Government Immunization & Vaccination Schedule chart which are mandatory is already available just follow that. Don't fall prey to their physiological game plan. To clear the doubts you may consult another doctor personally or online more
Mrs. Pallavi, I have been a victim as well. Its become a standard practice that every Pediatricians run a stock of vaccines and insists that the medicines have to be bought from them at full MRP. These are very expensive vaccines for common man and its unfair for the doctors to insist to buy at full price. If doctors wants to do business selling medicines, so be it but cannot force the parents to buy from them. I have seen every doctor, justifying that they have the best cold storage (Regular Home Use Refrigerators :)) and don't want to take risk with medicines got from other sources. Doctors take exorbitant discounts from the medicine distributors at a minimum of 15-40% discount and sell them at MRP to parents. More profit is made in medicine that the actual Doctor fee. I feel this is an outrageous practice. more
