GURGAON: Stray dogs are having a free run on the streets of Gurgaon.
Despite sterilization campaign by district authorities, the population of stray dogs is multiplying and close to 50 dog bite incidents are reported only in government hospitals every day. Residents say despite repeated complaints, the administration hasn't taken any action to control the menace.
On an average, the Civil Hospital in Gurgaon has seen close to 1,000-odd dog bite cases every month in its anti-rabies clinic. The district administration officials say that the figure could be much more as a lot of private hospitals do not report to them.

On an average, the Gurgaon Civil Hospital sees 50 cases of dog bites every day. Add this to the number of cases treated at private healthcare facilities and the figure will shoot up. On Monday, however, the government hospital in Old Gurgaon registered 100 cases.

Instead of being sympathetic or being cruel... it is appreciated if some one has the willingness to adopt one stray dog atleast. From ancient times Dogs are loyal to humans and a little love towards them is desired. more

I am a dog-owner.I drove up to Gurgaon from South India w ith my dog where she was only being fed by someone's maidservant.She stayed in the open garage of the person the maid worked for.The maid consented to my bringing her.In a sense,she was a stray-she did not belong to anyone.Merely feeding a dog or putting on a sweater is not enough.Being responsible for their safety and keeping others safe from them is the right thing to do.If you can do that,very well.If you can't ,then it is all just talk.We should not have strays in cities. more
