They claim their mangoes are carbide free but they are not as Per the water test. If you put their fresho mangoes in a bucket of water, they float which means they are artificially ripened. They are misleading consumer. LocalCircles may please escalate this to Govt/FSSAI. more
None of the fruits being sold in the market irrespective of the status of the sellers are safe for human consumption. Its not only the mangoes but any fruit you purchase right from street vendor to big busket or in whatever name you call them, the story will be the same, means, these will be heavily adulterated with chemicals having killer agents I guess, we are left with no options but to have the fruits collected from their respective gardens only to derive the intended benefits of fruits consumption in a safer way. more
It is a norm of the day that the mangoes are plucked from the garden even before they are ripe for the following reasons: 1. The buyers approach the farmers quite early in the season and make the deal. Once done it becomes their interest to ensure that they get the maximum yield and reach the market early. 2. In order that the mangoes do not get spoiled during the process of handling, storage, transportation the mangoes are plucked when they are green. 3. The buyers want a long shelf life as (a) The people who buy from the farmer want the product in perfect condition till they are able to sell it off to the whole seller (b) The whole seller want to ensure that his mangoes are not damaged till he sells if off to the retailer (c) The retailer would want the mangoes to be in perfect and sale-able condition with long shelf life to minimize his losses due to damages. 4. The ultimate buyers want their mangoes to look very fresh (just arrived from the farm condition) as they too would want it undamaged for 2 or 3 days when they take it home. You will observe that it is the greed at every level which is causing the sellers to resort to methods to meet these requirements. One cannot fault them as they are in business and all they care for is to make money/profit. This danger can be overcome only when we stop buying the product from Malls and small retailers but create a platform for the local farmers to sell and courier their products directly to our home. This need not necessarily be for mangoes alone. This can be done for Vegetables and other products too. Once done, every few villages will come together to form a cooperative from where the local farmers will have a better opportunity to get reasonable return for their produce and avoid middlemen. Both the farmer and the end user will be benefited. This is only a first stage idea which if thrashed out and lots of brainstorming done can become a successful model good for the farmers and society. This may also lead to organic farming on large scales. more
