Driving Delivery in Municipalities - Success Stories Requested

Dear all:

Many of you have probably been successful in getting your municipal corporation to service a community need on cleanliness, door to door garbage pick up, regular cleaning of streets or construction of a garbage bin, etc.

With this post, we would like all of you who had success in getting their municipal corporation to deliver to share their case.

How did you go about approaching the municipality?
How did you follow up and got them to address your case (in person, by phone, online and how often)?
Are there lessons you learned in the process?
Anything else you would like to share.

We will compile the collective inputs and then publish them for everyone's benefit. The idea here is to create awareness and then drive positive change both in community participation and performance of civic agencies.

We look forward to your inputs!

Most of the places the dust bins are awailable but no body can put their waste in the dust bin. For this at least make some awareness or a punishment. Every one is take it easy policy. The workers as well as the citizens never mind about the common cleanliness more
littering in public places, spitting to be prosecuted more
Its a sincere request to place as many as bins on road side n parks. Along with this whoever organises a function on streets or parks it must be made mandatory to provide even mobile toilets by them n permission to be sought by authorities to conduct there programs. Those bins at streets or parks shd have diff compartments like bottles, plastic, paper, tins, food etc. Cleaning of these bins mus be regularised. more
A solution for domestic wet garbage is already found .The basket is developed which is to be kept in the kitchen .Only once the starter culture is added in this .This converts all your Kitchen waste in to compost in the kitchen itself . If you want to know more about it pl. write to jayantjoshi55@gmail.com Don't blame others s be a educated and well behaved citizen. more
Our nationals' civic irresponsibility in throwing Garages any where and every where with out any discrimination is a shame both before the eyes of foreigners as well as Indians. Normal day to day accumulation of domestic garages should be collected and disposed of only by Corporation/municipality/other Local bodies and this job is primary and important duty of these bodies. In the case of garages generated due to the special work like construction, demolition, cutting of trees, etc, such things should be done by individuals/companies etc and private/public transport facilities should be provided for those who need to clean these wastes. more
