DTH services under new regulations of TRAI

My initial reaction to new regulations of TRAI effective 1st February 2019 is:
1. The new regulations seems to be with a purpose of increase in expenses with same quality and quantity of channels.
2. The rates for basic channels have been increased from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 130/- per month with same number of 100 channels. The additional fee seems to be for some of the paid channels which may not be an attractive offer. Indirectly now one is forced to pay minimum of Rs. 130/- per month and it includes almost 30 DD channels which hardly find acceptance from most of the urban viewers.
3. As far as selection of paid channel on a la-carte basis is concerned, the same was earlier also optional and is now also optional
4. The broadcasters/ DTH operators were earlier as well as now are allowed to form bouquet of channels keeping in view basic principle of "Pay what you want".

Then what is the USP of new regulations effective from 1st February, 2019.
I suggest local circle manager to post an opinion poll in the appropriate community seeking whether the subscribers are now being charged more than what was being paid during earlier period or is there any reduction in the subscribers expenses. more

Dear Mr. Virmani, our cable operator gave a flat rate of Rs.510/- for all channels, take it or leave it. We could not choose or delete anything. more
General observation is for the same content rates have increased, and this is not acceptable. We should revert back to the old system.Govt should try to persuade channels to reduce advertisement time so that viewers will not get bored. more
Yes expenses on TV viewing have increased for less useful channels..... TRAI to clarify the objective of this new policy. ...... more
The logic and rationale of TRAI changes is not understood. Presently , I was paying 240/- per month. Now after the new policy for viewing the same channels I will end up paying more than 500/-. Someone must have given it a lot of thought before implementing, but I fail to understand how the common viewer benefits. Col A P Gupta (Retd) more
I was paying 490 for all channels including HD and 340 for all channels SD. However, now very less channels for 560/- . Why disrupt and beat common man who is already burdened by heavy taxes. more
