During RAC ticket booking preferred coachno option
During the booking of RAC/WL ticket preferred coach number option could be given the passenger so that in case passenger gets his/her bearth confirmed he/she will get preference of that coach provided seats/berths are available in that coach.This is for the convenience of such passengers who revervs his/her ticket later on but want to have a choice of coach.
This is already available with confirmed ticker booking where you can select your preferred coach number.This option should be extended to the RAC/WL passengers also. more

While I was travelling on the train (Mumbai LTT-Haridwar ,Train No-12171,PNR-8145794223) my ticket was confirmed and I saw my preferred coach was running with atleast 40% unoccupied empty seats.The option of preferred coach could have satisfy my needs.I got to request TTE to change my seat from B2 to B12 which was possible to do automatically if prefered coach option was given to the RAC ticket passengers during booking.This option(preferred coach) is already with confirmed seat passegers in the booking irctc page.This coould help RAC/WL passengers to opt preferred coach in case there are seats available in that coach. more

This suggestion can be implemented as already there is provision to choose the coach when confirmed births are available. This facility is available at the reservation counters in stations but not available in online booking through IRCTC. This facility will be helpful when a group/family members have already reserved and another wants to join them later. Any way allotment for RAC and WL passengers are made only at time of chart preparation Hence making provision for choice is not difficult for railways. Jayaraman A Iyer more
