DURONTO FARE

I was surfing the IRCTC website. 42,2A births are available for CSTM-HWH Duronto Express leaving CSTM on 11/07(day after tomorrow). Fare Rs 5250/- out of which dynamic charge is Rs1489/- I am sure all the births would have been booked if the dynamic charge was not there. Fail to understand how such a scheme which allows berths to go empty to augment earning can be envisaged and enforced.Just do not understand how such a scheme can contribute to the railway exchequer. For god's sake someone from the railways please intervene and put some fresh thought. We do not want railways to die. more

I feel the dynamic fare should be capped at 20% (maximum). I think in case mentioned above it comes to almost 40%. more
I am fully agree with Mr. Bhattacharya. In several occasion I observed in the past that, When I bought ticket it's status was wait listed but it confirms prior to 4 hrs. before and may be sometime one day before. But while travelling, to my surprise the train was 20 to 30% vacant even I saw full one coach was vacant. This is during rainy season in July and August and Delhi to Kolkata / Sealdah route or vice versa in the Rajdhani / Duronta. It means during this lean season, there was no demand and railways used to release different quota seat which they used to released at the last moment, which seems to be vacant seat during train running. However railways charged dynamic fare in usual practice. Even though if you compare the air ticket, it is sometime cheaper than AC 3 tire ticket. Request to railway authority to look into this aspect because train running with empty berth and other hand charging dynamic fare is not justifiable. more
Scheme designed by the people who never pay for their tickets and do not know the market reality ( Air fare is many time less then railway fare ) more
The dynamic pricing is the brain child the greedy minds in top positions. How can a government run entity charge separate amounts for the same level of service provided? This greedy logic is of the businessman/houses followed by the government nowadays. Like Air India, the Railways will also be put on sale very soon. more
