Dynamic Fare

I am a regular traveller in 2nd AC of Howrah Rajdhani from Delhi and back. Of late I have observed that promotional fare offered by budget and full fare air carriers are much less than the dynamic fare charged by Indian Railways. While trying to book onward train ticket by Howrah Rajdhani on January 17, 2017 and return ticket on January 31, 2017, train fare in 2nd AC was shown as Rs. 3395 each way. On the other hand promotional fare of Jet Airways on the same dates were shown as Rs. 2544 each way. Thus by spending less of Rs.850 each way time saved is almost 14 hours. Introduction of dynamic fare has proved travelling by train is luxary now as compared to travel by air.
Thus decision makers of Indian Railways has proved the earlier concept of paying more to save time by introducing dynamic fare is is outdated and encouraging more people to travel by air, My request to Indian Railways to relook their decision and make travel by train passenger friendly and not by travel by air. more

Surge ticketing can be successful only in busy holiday season. It is a ill advised action. What about increased number of empty seats going in Rajdhani,Doranto trains, due to surge pricing. more
I do not know what prompted the ministry to indulge this exercise which is bound to backfire. Instead, it would be more prudent to even raise suburban fare by say 1-2% which will bring in more revenue and if not possible for 2nd class, at least raise the suburban 1st class fare. more
I agree with the observation made by Mr.Abdul Kader regarding extending concession to Senior Citizens on "Tatkal". Also it would be of much help if certain percentages of Tatkal tickets can be earmarked for Senior Citizens. Thanks. more
