Ear discharge and ear ache

For ear infection / discharge from ear the following leaf can be tried. IF THE PROBLEM DOES NOT REDUCE SEE DOCTOR. A picture and Latin name etc can be found in the site http://www.toxicologycentre.com/English/plants/Malayalam/panal.html . It is called panal / kuttipanal in Malayalam. Pluck two or three leaves and wipe them clean with a wetted and then squeezed clean white cloth. Let all traces of water dry. Cut the leaves with clean scissors or knife into very thin strips. Put it into a small pouch made of very thin white clean cloth -it will look like a tiny pillow. Put this pillow over the infected ear and tie a long thin piece of cloth like a bandage covering the pillow over the ear and keeping the pillow in place over the ear. The child will soon sleep usually. And the ear problem will reduce. NEVER LET THE LEAF BE WET OR BECOME WET. NO TRACE OF THE LEAF SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GET INTO THE EYE. NEVER TOUCH THE EYE WITH FINGERS THAT HAVE HANDLED THE LEAF. Keep the pillow on. Continue for a few days if necessary. Use fresh leaves each day. If the problem reduces the same pillow can be used for two days. During day time one can carry it around and inconspicuously hold the pillow to ones ear by holding a handkerchief along with it. Ear ache can be very painful and the pain (like toothache) seems to increase during night. So somebody reasonably OK in the evening can suffer a lot of pain in the night. more
