eCommerce issues

1) The various sellers of a particular product on a particular e-commerce website show different MRPs, which is not possible in real scenario because MRP is the maximum retail price and it cannot be different.
2) The MRP shown is inflated to bring the consumer under the impression that they are going to pay much less after discount, but the reality is that the price after discount comes close to the real MRP itself.
3) MRP is, at times, not mentioned on the packing box that is delivered, which indicates that either the product has not originated from the actual manufacturer and is fake, or the product is defective and has been sold to the website at a very low price.
4) When a person places an order and say, he/she pays using debit card, then the amount is instantly debited. Then, say, the product arrives after 3 days and the buyer now wants to return it, in this case the refund comes to the buyer in around one week's time. So for those 10-12 days (or it may take more time also), the e-commerce website earns some interest on the money, which is never returned to the buyer with the refund amount. In this way, the website earns money even if the product has not been sold.
5) Poor customer care service is also an issue. You receive a call from a person who speaks excellent English, but unfortunately, he/ she does not understand the real issue and as soon as you utter the word 'cheating', they are ready to forward your complaint to another team, from where you never receive another call and issue comes to a dead end.
6) Also feedback about the services that these websites ask after every purchase is not taken seriously.
7) There is no way to check the credibility of the seller from where the product is coming. more

Purchasing is not giving money and getting the thing. If one thinks, the actual need of the product, the durable and quality producers of such products, the market price - local Vs online, etc and then one concludes whether to buy it if yes from which producers and at what price. Hardly one can fail in this process. Since the new gen earns money without much effort like that we earned money in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, they simply want to get everything available online and think that others must be true and that doesn't work. more
It is better to avoid marketing through eCommerce Companies. They are not at all trust worthy. It was crystal clear long ago that these companies are making the customers fool by quoting inflated MRPs. more
As Indians r basically unethical.. most of the products sold via online portals r expected to be spurious. So duty of buyer to take a considered decision more
Consumers must take snaps of the MRP indicated on the website and actually printed on the goods when received and forward it to the authorities.Hopefully they will take action. more
We have no capability to audit tax collections on e-commerce items. more
