Education for every Indian

Education is a fundamental human right and vital to achieving economic growth, increasing income, and sustaining a healthy society. Education is important in helping to improve lives, break the cycle of poverty and ensure that all people, particularly women have control over their destiny.
Priority areas where we focus our attention and education resources.
1. Improving access to education
2. Improving quality of education
3. Improving governance and management of education
4. Quality daycare centers and elementary schools;
Classroom equipment and furniture
5. Teaching and learning materials, including current textbooks, maps, globes, teaching manuals, writing supplies, chalkboards, etc.
6. Playgrounds and other recreational areas for children;
7. Training for teachers, principals, and child care providers;
8. Training of parent-teacher associations and school management committees.

Education is often perceived as a place where children can develop according to their unique needs and potentialities with the purpose of developing every individual to their full potential. more

The prime factor causing deterioration of educational system is I think, that hardly any talented person is desirous to engage in this field. The teacher's post neither command the respect it should deserve nor there is attractive salary. We must remember that teachers have the responsibility of shaping the future generation. Teachers of government schools are used like bonded labor while implementing various govt schemes. Steps should be taken so that talented persons are motivated to take up the teaching as a profession. One more concern is the education system fail to build a character of student and finally the society. Main culprit is History. India has many great (to the extent that it is difficult to believe that such people really existed) characters. Such inspirational characters are well neglected in history that is being taught today. This scenario must change. I hope that biographies of such great persons will certainly help improving character of tomorrow's Indian society. A child learns faster what he sees and not what is taught. The powerful corrupt persons being respected more than a learned teacher (or person) should not be a picture what a child should ever see. The corrupt should be seen behind the bars at some point of time and teachers should get their due respect. more
1. Improve Quality of Education in Government Schools. 2. Provide Enough Resources to Govt. Schools and make the education interesting to children by teaching more practically than theoretical. 3. Make the sports activities compulsory in schools, it gives their mind relaxation and keep active. more
Here are the issues I can think of: * Lack of infrastructure in government schools that can truly challenge private institutions. * Private schools looking at education as business opportunities. * Minimal usage of technology in schools. * A mindset that Engineering/Medical is the only useful stream of education. * A mindset that only marks/scores determines the caliber of a student. * Teachers are not encouraged to periodically train in their fields so they can stay up to date. * Lack of focus on developing (lack of infrastructure) athletes/sports personalities so India can excel in various sports. more
Quality of staff is the main issue in the villages. Teachers are not able to create an enabling environment where parents are sensitized and given orientation and vision about education. So I think we need better equipped and quality teachers in rural areas. more
Mr. Shankaran, "2. Improving quality of education" Also the content needs a total change. Much of what we teach is useless in real life. And what is important is never taught in most schools. I asked over 100 students if they know how to give CPR? They said we have never been taught. And most of them had no idea of first aid. Just giving you an example. Our education system need some visionary yet practical, highly educated yet humble, high-tech yet balanced heads to re-examine the system and completely redo it within next couple of years. Or we will have millions of unskilled workers crying for jobs, taking to the street or even turning criminals.
