Effective Solutions for Stray Animals

1. The local corporations should take steps to remove all canines and cattle from the roads
2. Sterilisation campaigns should be done so that their population does not increase
3. People who deliberately keep their cows astray should be fined
4. Animal shelters should be built and animals should be trained
5. NGO’s should be involved in working towards adoption of the stays
6. Municipality should also be involved in the clean up
7. A municipal helpline should be started to report dangerous stray animals
8. Stray cows should be picked up by the municipal team and the owner should be charged heavily for the release
9. People have a misplaced sense of charitable attitude towards animals – this should be changed
10. Owners of cattle especially cows, horses must register ownership and the animals should have the registration locket, failing which the animals on the roads may be impounded
11. Relevant Government or NGO Agencies should take the cows to villages and auction them off to recover costs or make profit
12. Stray animals should be caught and rehabilitated in separate enclosures in the outskirts off the towns and cities more

I fully agree with the twelve points suggested by the effective solution for stray animals. It is the combine responsibility of owners of stray animals like cows, goats, buffaloes etc and municipal authorities. There should be dialogues between both periodically and make solutions. If the the owners of stray animals don't agree the heavy fine should be imposed on them. The sterilisation programme should be exercised for dogs and pigs. Annual contract may be given to the interested parties. This scheme is successful in Rajkot Gujarat. The segregation of the waste management should be done and waste should be composted for organic fertiliser. As far as feeding is concerned to the cows waste should not be fed to the cows. So many institutions and NGO are ready to feed the cows in the shelter houses. Then the milk of those cows should be sold through dairies. It is the responsibility of administration and municipal authorities to dispose waste properly. It has no concerned the waste management with cow-feeding.The awareness of the people will help to maintain cleanliness in the urban and rural areas. There should be no partiality be adapted by municipal authorities. more

When I call Mahatashtra Govt. Animal Helpline to help Accident wounded Dogs in streets, no one turns up --- because these Sarkari Babus are the wild animals of modern society. I have no choice but to collect medicines - wash their wound, serve them with dressings and feed them with norish food and milk to make them recover from wounds. These Dogs are happy with me & survive in good health. But how far can I reach in this situation--- with TAX PAID limited income & limited spare time. Why GOVT. Employees are like inhuman dumps --- Why should they be paid from our hard earned TAX? Is it a curse to take birth in India as human? more
