Effectively utilizing peons in Govt offices
1. Proper assessment Should be done to evaluate the potential of each person and other skills and traits he/she possess for redeployment/additional responsibilities
2. The class III staff with effective oversight should be used as data entry operators to digitalize all the files and paperwork
3. These class III staff can also be used as SUPERVISORS in government contract works in various public welfare departments. We waste lots of public money every year due to lack of supervision
4. They can be trained in xeroxing, filing, faxing etc.
5. They can be trained in local lingo for Government call centres with a little bit of training
6. They can be made to man stores, small shops within the department
7. All those employees are to be identified and deployed permanently or on deputation basis to PWD and R& B, Irrigation, and other utility departments after imparting necessary minimum job specific training
8. Anyone above the age of 45, not interested in remastering into any other trade should be asked to avail VRS
9. Those below the age of 45 must be allowed to upgrade his educational qualifications
10. Installing tea/coffee dispensing machines in all offices will make most of these people available for other jobs
11. This category staff may be absorbed in the available vacant posts of clerks/assistants in various government departments instead of making fresh appointments more
