Hi, I am living in a 3bhk Premiere Urban apartments in Sector 15 part 2. they have prepaid electricity. we use only ACs and general electrical appliances like fridge, Laptops and lights. But the bill we are paying is around Rs. 6-7k per month. Is this normal in gurgaon or is there something fishy going on? Whenever i report, they say you must be using a old AC. they also dont provide electricity bills for prepaid electricity. just a paper saying the units. Can somebody help please. more
Dear Ms Garg As you have mentioned that you are consuming 30 units per day. as a thumb rule mutliply it average rate of Rs 7 or Rs 7.10 all inclusive charges and then multiply it with the number of days in month you are at home. You would come to know whether your bill is right or wrong. Any how if you are not incline to pay this amount then what you do is raise the dispute and file a simple case in consumer court. The matter would come to Bijli Adalat there you settle the way you want. Generally people get away with paying less amount. more
Hi, it is pretty normal to get this amount bill in Gurgaon, you know when you reach a specific slab, your tarriff also increases. Keeping in account the number of items you are using which consume electricity, it is normal to get this amount of bill. The home where I stay on rent, they get Rs 32000-35000 bill during summers when 3 ACs are on in their house. I dont have AC and have only a cooler, two small rooms, use CFLs, fans only, and my bill comes around Rs 1500 per month. So you can chill and relax. Old AC, new AC does not have any big affect on bill, only maybe 400-500 per month. So if you want to save electricty bill, you can start thinking of reducing electricity consumption by buying a new AC like inverter ones nowadays whcih are in market which consume electricity, replace tubelights and CFLs with LED bulbs which are available at a cheap cost online and sometimes Easyday and reliance outlets. Also you can make it a practice and teach everyone in your home to swtich off lights and fans when not in use. I hope it gives you some help more
For a 3BHK apartment in Gurgaon, electricity bill of 6-7k per month is quite normal because this includes common area electricity charges and DG back up charges. The revised Haryana Vidyut board tariff is now Rs.7.25 per unit. However the RWA or the Builder must provide a proper electricity bill with actual units consumed, tariff, charges for common area electricity, DG back up charges etc. The practice of prepaid charges is also not common. Can we measure the units used by a particular device in some way? i want to check the ACs and Fridge we are using. more
