Elevator Sales Team Misleading and Charging Extra

I was part of team involved in deciding a vendor for elevators / Lifts to be installed in my society. We went through number of negotiations with sales teams of various vendors. One feature that they highlighted was ARD (Automatic rescue Device) they claimed that if a person gets stuck in the lift the device will take the lift to the nearest floor and the door will open automatically. This seemed like an attractive feature which also influenced our decision to go with OTIS. However, after installation the lifts malfunctioned and people were stuck in the elevator, on questioning them about the ARD they stated that ARD works only if there is a power failure and does not work in cases of electrical fluctuation or in cases where the generator takes over from a power failure.

This is a clear case of misrepresentation and I will appreciate if someone can guide us on what action can be taken against the company since it can be a life threatening situation with people getting trapped in the lifts. more
