Eligibility of government employees to contest elections after retirement / resignation

The oath of secrecy in office when administered in sensitive posts of IAS/IPS/IFS are to be viewed with caution for the eligibility to contest elections to public posts like MP /MLA.
It is good that experienced people would like to serve our country in law making bodies like parliament ,Assembly to contribute their expertise and wisdom gained over years in government posts.
But since they are party to many state policies, secrets, sensitivities material including defence and foreign affairs it is better to make a rule that there must be a gap of five years after retirement or resignation. This will safeguard the country’s confidential / secret / sensitive matters of which they were a party in the government.
This may also be applied to various governamental / defence / police top posts and top posts in corporate sector and private industries.
Conflict of interest is always a possibility if some is holding a MD post and he is a MP.
Opinions are solicited from various wise people on this so that Election commission may bar these people who are rushing to resign and rush to contest as was noticed recently. more

I do not think that the oath taken at the time of appointment is limited for a period in service only and secondly the person is elected (directly or indirectly) by the people. By making any such rule we are casting doubt on ability of people to judge. In any case in DEMOCRACY you get the Govt you deserve. In my opinion no new laws should be made and emphasis should be on implementation of existing laws in their true spirit. RYK. more
Instead of this they should define qualification, age limit, criminal record, assets held, number of kids etc for a person contesting elections. This will improve quality of politicians over a period of time. more
Those who have little or no knowledge of Original Indian History from our ITIHASAS, and those who are too Westernized that they are ashamed of their Indianness and their Hindu roots ( though they may be Muslims or Christians now) including anyone arrogantly refusing to say JAI HIND and BHARAT MATA KI JAYA should be barred from General Elections more
An IAS/IPS/IFS is sensible enough. He won't devulge those secrets just because he has joined politics. more
Present govt. has MPs who were IAS/IPS/Army General/Army officer besides persons from academician and variety backgrounds. Any one while in service including persons from education field should be barred from contesting election. more
