India direly lack the system of segregation of recyclable & degradable waste. First we should develop this practice at house hold level as being done in other developed and western countries. Put the degradable waste into generating different kind of bi-products, such as, energy including power & gas, manure, etc. The recyclable items can be used in making raw materials, like, card boards for packaging, hard plastic sheets for manufacturing of various electrical & electronic items and so on & so forth. These works would create lot of employment opportunities for the unemployed youths. Necessary training should be arranged for this purpose. The efficient waste management system must be implemented in all urban/semi-urban and rural areas/villages simultaneously. We have huge stock of condemned tyres. Technologies should be developed to procure the rubber from such tyres and put it into recycling. Instead of giving the cleaning works to the multinational companies, the work can be distributed cluster-wise to the unemployed youths on contract basis. This will certainly be cost effective and result oriented. However, in such cases the governments/local bodies should take the responsibilities for providing large equipment/machinery, if needed against reasonable rent. more
I feel our central govt. Should implement this swach bharat mission in all states through taluk wise and a seperate ngo should be formed in districts & those ngos should be in a position to approach all municipal corporation authorities to join hands with the ngos for waste segregation projects like plastics recycling, agri waste conversion to manure etc. Thereby the ngo can create revenue & unemployed youth can be benefitted hand in hand a clean city project will be succesful always. more
Primarily I feel an effective garbage collection system has to be in place. In a documentary related to garbage disposal on National Geographic channel, I was impressed with the waste disposal system implemented in Australia. There is a garbage collection bucket kept of every 2 or 3 houses and a truck every day comes and collects the garbage and dumps it outside city where it is used to make bio-gas. Something like this can be thought about for big cities which can also contribute to power generation to some extent. In this system lot of opportunities for entrepreneurs exist, right from procurement of plastic buckets to garbage collection to disposal of different kind of waste. Corporations should think positively on this model to keep cities clean though out the country. more
Purchasing and recycling the plastic waste may be a solution of our problem and good opportunity for business more
