EPFO public image is very very bad

A well placed family member wrote this yesterday

Had always opted out of EPF all my life, till my current employer didn't budge on that request.

Thank fully probably will lose only 10-15L rupees in life to govt. I know people with 50L+ stuck in it.

People get convicted for not paying taxes, but 0 accountability from govt for the opposite (not paying people their money)

Epfo should wake the heck up more

normally all govt org like epf etc are lethargic to customer needs and have not upgraded their technologyfor the same They have been working inefficiently since years and are now facing the brunt of the people govt has to make it more transparent and efficient online and people do not have to visit their office otherwise concerned person should be taken to task more
Most important is to see why pension amount is disproportionate to needs, although members are contributing to this social security funds. And in social security funds individual contribution is not relevant to quantum of benefits. more
I suggest @LocalCircles admin run a survey to gauge the sentiment of public w.r.t EPFO in terms of trust/integrity, efficiency, transparency and ease of use. more
Absolutely correct. There is no accountability of either EPFO officials or the participating companies. The companies nefariously do not process documentation and EPFO at every step simply refuses to even take up the proven malpractices by the companies let alone investigate into them. The members are simply asked to contact the malintent (ex) employers for everything. The biggest government supported scam. The member is harassed to the extent that most prefer to take the financial hit instead of running from pillar to post till they die. If the government/EPFO is truly sincere about supporting the hapless members then at the very least the members with unclaimed funds in inoperative accounts should be allowed to requisite details with id proofs etc without involvement of establishments/companies. If the company chooses to intentionally harass an employee or has shut shop for good then the members unwillingly are obliged to forfeit their hard earned money as there is no recourse to claim it without the establishments' involvement/approval. If the account is inoperative and the member is able to provide a UAN, PAN etc then they should be able to claim their own money. more
Agree with you and they are not even want to listen the member in any issue. EPS is also not so lucrative, yet everything is in favour of the board not the member more
