EVALUATION IS A MUST AFTER 4 YEARS OF CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS IN THE “ MAKE RAILWAYS BETTER “

This follows the valuable comments for the Post “ THE TICKET CANCELLATION CHARGES TO BE MODIFIED for the BENEFIT OF THE RAILWAYS “ :

I am convinced that all our complaints are not thrown into the Bin. By the shear volume and number of posts , the Indian Railways had to budge and start effecting some changes in cleanliness , some services .

There was semblance of changing the British style of having helpers and Malis in the Babus' households to errand work at the cost of Railways. Hope the practice gets abolished completely from Railways. Unless we pursue relentlessly the issue will be sidelined . Like wise many more .

But they are yet flexible to adopt to many other methods that has been complained, discussed ,suggested ,like :

* DISPLAY AVAILABLE BERTHS L/M/U for the convenience of the passengers booking tickets to chose or discard . If lower berth is not available the passenger need not pay and book ; to be cancelled later at exorbitant charges for no mistake of the passengers. - Instead the Railways encourages the passengers to pay first then disappoint them ; further agony while cancelling . There is absolutely no justice at all in this practice.

* FLEXI ,DYNAMIC FARE : Still there are many voicing their discontent and displeasure in a most dignified and democratic manner about the Flexi fare [even with modification] - they never budge from their stand . Luckily the type of citizens protesting and stopping trains haven't come to know the details of such discrepancies , injustices meted out to the Passengers . Railways shouldn't wait till that time . That seems to be the mood all over the country.

* DO YOU GET THE FACILITIES FOR WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN THE LIGHT OF BIG CHUNK OF FREE PASSES ISSUED. ? Issue of large number of free passes to Various categories of beneficiaries [ they are called so as many of them don’t deserve and the financial condition of the Railways can’t afford.

* THE QUOTAS OF DIFFERENT TYPES as and when added when the V.I.P’s want, depriving the PAYING PASSENGER’s need , which deserves a relook .
Railways was started during the British for the British Babu’s and their Indian counterparts to travel on work, holiday , move military equipment , soldiers and food and rations . With several classes First class , Second Class , an Intermediate class and the third class . First and second class was mainly used by the British and Top Indian Officials from Railways and may be some real Rajas and business men . The third class was for the common man. There was no right for the common man to complain . But the British saw to it that the Paying passenger got what he paid for by making the rail workers do their job diligently . Common man was satisfied .Post Independence during P.M. Indira Gandhi’s time it was reduced to only 2 classes , first and second. Then the other classes evolved . Do we the paying passengers get the services for what we pay through which ever channel [now mostly through the nose ]

THIS IS THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG ……………..

Analyze discuss and chose for implementation to see some visible changes ; after all we the passengers are customers and not “ freebee “ seekers . ---- Jai Hind more

This is unbelievable that a person will work for a contractor without pay and instead will depend on tips from passengers. As far as I understand they are paid a little less as compare to others but they fool passengers to get their sympathy and money too. The job on train is very lucrative. A tea vendor usually sells tea at Rs.10 instead of Rs.7 and will short supply it by at least 10 ml per cup. In AC coaches where passengers are usually alert they get a small pack of biscuit with tea but in sleeper class passenger get tea only. One can imagine how much money a tea vendor make during each trip. more
Earlier in petrol bunks, people used to work freely and normally they do not give change which comes to thousands of rupees depending on the location of the petrol station. After installing digital meters they lost that and are being paid. In this instance case also the passenger must demand complaint book available with the SM and write a complaint. I hope that will take care of the problem. more
Yes, the ticket reservation Portal of the IRCTC should show the details of the available berths prior to confirmed booking so that the applying passengers could decide as to whether to proceed further or not in the event of non-availability of berths of their choice. I presume, the Indian railways is not honest in this regard and the system of showing the details of the available berths is not introduced with the ill intention of earning extra bucks on cancellation of the tickets. Introducing flexi-fare system in the railways copying the air lines is nothing but a big fraud perpetrated to loot the passengers taking undue advantage of absence of a second option without bringing in the required improvement in its services, viz., cleanliness, comforts, security and most importantly, the timeliness. Looking to the ways the railways is proceeding towards the achievement of these goals, there are no reasons to believe that it will will be able reach to the nearer of the qualities of services being offered by the airlines, in the couple of decades to come. Therefore, the concerned ministry must reconsider its decision. Number of free-passes being allowed the the railway staff and its retirees should be reduced to a reasonable extent. After the present government came into being in the centre 4 years ago, the government declared that it will gradually abolish the VIP culture already deep rooted in the country since independence and some actions were taken towards it but thereafter the issue appears to have been compromised with the strong lobby of this culture loving people. However, the railways should abolish the system of VIP quota and could only continue the emergency quota open to every one under specified circumstances with due care against misutilisation thereof. more
Ha ha ha. Whom shall we blame? The reckless drivers? The hibernating Motorola vehicles officials and traffic police? Or the judiciary which awards less harsha punishments after prolonged litigation? Or all? more
Even with such poor condition of roads, we are on the top of the list of No. of death occur every year due to road accidents. If our roads are wide & smooth, instances of road accidents will increase several times as we display least respect towards the laws of the land and have little concern about the consequences of our rush driving making others suffering for ever. more
It is better to compare condition of roads and traffic in India. People are forced to avoid road travel due to these two factors. more
One of the most important where services are deteriorating day in and day out is due to the plight of the attendants servicing in AC coaches. As a regular and frequent traveller in AC classes, I have come across these attendants seeking tips at the end of one's journey. I encountered one such attendant when he sought tips from me. His argument was that his employers (contractors) do not pay them salaries and whenever the salary demand was made by them, the answer was that theywill not be paid salaries and instead they should collect tips from the passengers. Railways should look into the plight of these attendants who do a 24 hour service on long distance trains and ensure that they are paid their dues to avoid seeking tips. more
I had encountered 5/6 times more
I am not a frequent traveller. But never faced this problem. So I do not want to comment. The passengers can say bluntly no tips. Or take the name of attendant and give complaint to the CPTM of the zone or Sr.DCM of the division and pursue through RTI. more
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST COMPLAINT . A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE WE

HAVE SEEN THIS TYPE OF COMPLAINTS IN THE CIRCLE. HIGH TIME THE

IRCTC DOES SOME THING AND TRAP THE CONTRACTORS. OTHERWISE THE

COMMON MAN WILL GET AN IMPRESSION THAT THE MONEY SWALLOWED

BY THE CONTRACTORS IS BEING SHARED WITH THE OFFICALS .

I have not noticed this hat collectio in trins where the local boys are employed ; but only wherever the boys from outside states are employed . I will be so in yhe other zones also. more
