Everybody wants improvement without paying for it

I agree with Jayesh Ganger completely. Our railway is the most flogged sector. Every successive railway minister has used it to help his/her own state and thus gaining vote bank. As a result, railways have deteriorated in terms of infra-structure, services etc. over a period of time. A number of accidents is the result of this neglect. We all know railway is a very important segment. We are lucky to have a Railway Minister who has vision. Railways need funds. Everybody wants improvement without paying for it. The fares of the premier trains have been increased. It should not impact the poor section. more

I agree with the views. One thing we must see is that since decades the post of railway minister has been regarded a prestigious posting which was provided to political parties having the maximum no of MPs from any sector. This finally results in no fare increase formula in passenger fare leading to low revenue leaving out nothing for safety, track development or infrastructure developmenyt. more

Now with implementation of flexibility fare, first 10% of tickets will also get sold on opening of booking by agents and later the names and boarding stations will be changed with the help of reservation supervisor. Gen.public will never get tickets at base price. more
Agreed with Mr Thakkar. It is easy to squeeze money from public as railways is a monopoly. See the condition of Air India when competition is introduced and what is the fare now. Let Railways allow private sectors to run few trains on auction and face competition. Why the railways babus cannot compete with sprawling city to city night buses and freight trucks. Why can not the matter be given to IIM for study and recommendation? Why the trains are running excessive late instead of advanced GPRS systems? Why at stations the authorities initially tell that certain train is coming on time which ultimately comes 2 hrs late? Any answer. No use in merely getting salary, bonus, free pass,PTO and other perks when one can not deliver goods to public. Now almost all railway employees travel in AC- who pays for them? Only Poor tax payers. For GOD's sake consider above and be honest to yourself and to the country more
