Ex Railway Minister is responsible for Stampede

Mr. Suresh Prabhu, who was the railway minister till early this month, has blamed the transporter for the rush hour stampede. In a statement, he said he had sanctioned the construction of a new foot over-bridge at Elphinstone Road in 2015, but the tender was not issued due to the railway administration's “careless attitude“.“The lackadaisical working of the railway administration is responsible for the tragedy ,“ he claimed.

The job of a minister is not only to sanction a project but to monitor the implementation of the project by getting project progress reports at least once a month. Minister failed in his duty by not taking action against Railway Officers who did not implement the sanctioned project in a time bound manner.

Therefore ex-Railway Minister should own up the responsibility for the tragedy at Elphistone Road Station resulting in death and injury of large number of persons.

We hope that present Railway Minister will take strict action against the Divisional Railway Manager and General Manager Western Railway by immediately suspending them. more

"The lackadaisical working of the railway administration is responsible for the tragedy" statement made by the RM is irresponsible. As a Minister, he should take the responsibility for the lackadaisical working of the Administration. more
All the previous railway ministers release major chunk of funds for their own states as there is no proper representation forwarded by maharashtra govt..most of demands are for Big Ticket projects where there is more profit for themselves & contractors. The mumbai's suburban railway never gets priority when it comes to up-gradation of tracks, amneties, etc.other states have mono-rail & metro trains running. whereas in Mumbai it takes years to start Metro rail. The Mono Rail is still in dooldrums for obvious reason i.e. project costs go increasing yearly as there is "Escalation Clause" in the contracts. The more they're delayed more money goes into Vested interest pockets(contractor & ministers).the new railway minister called for audit of bridges now which means the previous ministers didn't do the same which should be done on yearly basis.they were more concerned about their fat pay cheques & incentives. more
Dear Mr. Pande let us not be unchartable. Ministers cannot oversee individual works. They must instead weild the rod on the errant officers, and take them to task so that the rot can be stemmed. more
I totally deny the charges made against the Railways, Railway Management, MR and staff. All good guys are interested in passing the bucks without considering the robotic commuters of Mumbai who do not think of any consequence like remote controlled robot. Railway Foot Over Bridges are strong enough to move the moving passengers and they are accordiingly inspected and maintained regularly. They are not for taking shelter for rains and stand increasing the static load at peak hour. They are fit for dynamic load they carry. Knee deep water stagnation on the landing side was not made by Railways and the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation is responsible for the proper drainages. When an abnormal crowd stands on FOBs stand and run the debacle occurs as was there at Allahabad Junction during Kumbh Mele Rush. more
In Railway, Without controls on corruption & Changes the Officers & contractors whose having very strong connection with congress or other corrupted politicians up to that's nobody can be improved into the railway systems. more
