Excellent report showing the malpractices of taxi aggregators

Glad LocalCircles Manager is bringing up this entire issue of dark patterns and manipulation in the public domain

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/taxi-aggregators-dark-patterns

Travel and Taxi and ecommerce are three sectors where dark patterns are in plenty.

We should all post our experience. I have personally experienced hundreds of times on ola uber that on front screen it says nearest cab is 2 mins away. When u start booking it says cab arriving in 10-12 mins basicall indicating Bait and Switch practice.

Hope CCPA acts soon. more

Good work. I still remembered how a few taxi aggregators lured customers by advertising 6 rupees per kilometre. Now travel anytime, anyday it's we all know more
Excellent wotk more
I also have experienced bait and switch practice every time, I book the cab. To me, it always says 2 min but after booking, it will start showing 6 min, 8 min etc. and finally driver will arrive after taking even longer time. Sometimes, driver will pick the ride and cancel it without informing or ride will be switched to some other driver without any notification. There should be system check where if drop location is hospital, school/college, railway station or airport, driver can't cancel it after picking the ride. more
Though the pick up point, destination and the fare are displayed to the app drivers before hand, they phone and ask where and how much; then they demand much higher fare. Another thing they do is to come to the point, cancel the trip and ask for the app fare or slightly more. If one is in a hurry, one goes. A lot of cheating is done by the drivers too. Many times, I have had the problem of the drivers repeatedly cancelling the trip after accepting. We will have to wait for the available one. Unfortunately, cheating comes naturally to many of us more
