Excessive Cancellation charges by Indigo airlines.

See the complaint on postponement of journey and the excess charges
"I have booked a ticket from VTZ to MAA as per the booking JD7FMP. I want to postpone my journey by 2 days and travel back on 20th. When I contacted your board number and requested for help. They said that Because I have
booked as Armed forces personnel i will get refund for cancellation as follow. I paid Rs 2326 minus 1840 and I will get a paltry refund of 298. This I think is not acceptable and the customer taken for a ride. I have asked for a change 38 days before travel.
I think this is adequate time for the cancellation or postponement without penalty. This is unfair. Why the airlines cannot follow the railways system. "If a confirmed ticket is cancelled more than 48 hrs before the scheduled departure of the train, flat cancellation
charges shall be deducted @ Rs.240/- for AC First Class/Executive Class, Rs.200/- for AC 2 Tier/First Class, Cancellation charges are per passenger. If a confirmed ticket is cancelled within 48 hrs and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train,
cancellation charges shall be 25% of the fare subject to the minimum flat rate mentioned in the above clause. See this site. http://www.services.irctc.co.in/beta_htmls/etktcanc.html. You may not follow the same but based on this you could have better Cancellation or rescheduling charges. You may talk to DGCA and decide. I have complained this to them also.
" An automated response to acknowledge the receipt of your email. Your case reference number is CRN-2388350-Q5B4Z1. To this they said that it is their policy and and i will forfeit large amount of money I have paid. They make profits on cancellations. They need to follow a policy like the railways and print the charges on the ticket. I have enclosed the recording of the conversation. more

Govt should initiate cancellation policy for Airlines. more
The airlines functioning in the country are acting according to their wills and every day they are finding out new avenues to loot the passengers. About a year back, charges for extra luggage on book 24 hrs ahead of the journey where Rs.100/- per KG, which has since been revised to Rs.400/- per KG. They are deducting unreasonable amount in the name of cancellation/postponement charges, which even exceeds the price of tickets in some cases. Surprisingly, our government is a silent spectator of the airlines' such unethical acts of fleecing with the public money. Will a good sense prevail in the officials of the department concerned and cap such charges of the airlines to a minimal reasonable amount at the earliest? more
DGCA should frame rules for cancellation for all air lines operating in India and other Passenger related issues including online check and seat selection. more
There is no cancellation policy for airlines. Government to initiate steps in this direction. more
