Excessive pricing of food at airport

I am glad LC manager ran this poll. During Diwali travel coffee and croissant for 6 of us at Delhi airport was 2300 rupees.

Clearly something that at market rates would be 1200 rupees and if had at home 400 rupees.

The loot is real. Imagine the pain now during fog season people will spend 6-8 hours extra at airport. At best will get a sandwich from airline.

I think if food is reasonably priced, aggression and trauma at airports will reduce. more

The best way would be either to have your tiffin at home before leaving or to carry it along. Under no circumstances one should opt for airport-made drinks or foods to avoid spending on such exorbitant prices. more
Indeed , quick action is needed by mighty hand more
The overhead is very high for the Shops. They have to charge more to make a profit. No one asks to eat at airports or drink at the bar. It is the same as eating in a 5 star hotel and a normal restaurant. It is your choice. Have you checked the prices if you eat in the plane , those stale boxed lunches more
They have made or strongly trying to atleast make food a luxury itself ? what can citizens do? more
This is another silly topic to discus from a person who has no understanding of business or economics. Yes everything they sell including services they provide are high priced at every airport in the world. Have you thought about why?? There are many taxes and charges placed on venders by the central and state government to sell anything at the airport. The merchants have to pass that on to the customers. The seller can not go broke by not making a profit. This is called free market. No-one is forcing you to buy anything you don't want to buy. Have you not heard the expression, "there is no free lunch" and someone has to pay for what one gets it for FREE? If you don't like to pay high prices bring your own food with you. more
