Execution approach for Smart Cities - Inputs Needed
The smart cities mission is being launched today and the 100 cities will be augmented or developed as Smart Cities of India.
We would like to seek your inputs on how should the municipal and district administration go about executing this monumental task.
A smart city needs good drainage/sewage system, good waste management, good roads and highways, well maintained parks and gardens, broadband and wi-fi connectivity, robust law & order, high civic sense and citizen engagement in governance.
Please share your thoughts on a specific chronological plan that should be utilized by the ULB administration so the mission becomes a reality.
In a separate discussion, we will review the processes, systems, controls that are required to execute that plan.

1) Complete smart city should have Guided Boards which will serve as informative data to new one . 2) Also smart city wise informative , active web portal is required where citizen can submit his problems . It is required for good governance . Complaint and its clearing should be displayed online 3) Solar lights should be used everywhere 4) Smart city project must be executed with the participation of citizen 5) Smart city planning and actions should be informative and open for public . more

Getting inputs is fine in which every one gives his own thoughts irrespective of how best it is or how feasible it is as individual knowledge is limited. By this method we may not get world class cities. Best way is to find the best smart cities in the world, talk to their founders, get the know how from them. But the construction should be fully Indian. One step towards the make in India. Please ensure there should not be any let down nor any goof up in constructing these cities which gives big ammunition to congress to criticize. more

Am Pune resident, in last 5 years I witnessed demolishing of 4 public latrines in Koregaon Park area. There were almost 12 big garbage collectors placed in corners across this area. Now I observed hardly 3-4 are left. I believe this area is having highest street dogs in city. particularly walk early morning before 6am...you can't...What this corporation is doing with the funds. I feel rest of city rather outskirts must have same situation. And this can be easily proved on ground. more

A smart city needs good 1- construction planning , excellent architect aspects for functional drainage and proper sewage system, good waste management, good street and city roads . 2- Properly well maintained parks and gardens, and Well constructed Bus Stands . 3- Well all time broadband and wi-fi connectivity for abuse-less law & order. 4- Proper systematic locations for Police stations to maintain high civic sense and citizen in governance. 5- Proper industrialized and education sectors layouts for better environments Therefore meetings like SURAT CITY must be organised timely and regularly to make successful smart city concepts . more
