Foundation for Media Professionals (FMP) Founding Member and Times of India's Senior Editor for Legal Affairs, Mr. Manoj Mitta, will speak on
“ RIOTS AND MEDIA COVER-UP.”
Those of us who have read Manoj's recent book on the Godhra riots will find his interrogation of the evidence and testimonies presented to the Nanavati Commission and the Special Investigation Team, and the conclusion that these two agencies have arrived at from them, thorough, relentless and unforgiving. Manoj questions the basis on which a clean chit has been given to the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. That makes this lecture quite topical.
But Manoj is not selectively forensic. In an earlier book, he had questioned the cover-up by the various agencies that investigated the Sikh riots. While lessons have been learnt from that event, Manoj says the courts, especially the Supreme Court, have not gone to the extent they should have to ensure that Gujarat's riots victims got justice. When it comes to human rights abuses, Manoj takes no sides, which is as it should be.
In this lecture Manoj will also focus on the role of the media. You are requested to yourself come and spread the word around so that as many as possible get to hear a talk about issues that are germane to liberty and the rule of law.

It is very obvious that Mr. Wilfred Lobo is selectively trying to establish guilt on person who is in the other side of his political leanings . Under the guise of "Mr. Manoj he is trying to mislead and selfgratify the belief that his opponent is guilty . The reason is very simple. To benefit a certain party electorally by creating a fear in the minority and get their votes .This brand of politics survives in this seudosecularism . One appeal is to trust on the rule of law and as the court had given the verdict and everybody even Mr. WIlfred has to accept it rather that ranting on the false stories loudly believing that by doing so it would become true or percieved as true. Please ..for gods sake stop this . All riots are inhuman and should be stopped. But these "specific group" of people are trying to make believe that there was only one riot in India which should be spoken of. Are you aware that there were hundreds of riots in the country before and after 2002 . Is any of these riots spoken of in details . If you insist on discussing 2002 then you should also discuss the other riots 1984 and more recent one in Assam and muzafarpur. You are trying to pull the country back by creating hatred among citizens . No true Indian would do this. We all should move ahead and join together to make our country stronger. more
