Extortion of Businesses by Transgenders
An issue has recently been raised in one of the local circles about transgenders engaging in extortion of businesses demanding money between INR 12,000-51,000.
We would like to seek your inputs on similar issues faced elsewhere in the country.
Seperately, Ministry of Railways through its Make Railways Better circle is working on addressing issues raised on extrortion by transgenders in trains.
We would like to understand the magnitude of this issue and then have a seperate discussion on solutions with a submission to the relevant stakeholders.

Yes limit of their shagun should be fixed so that common man do not feel extorted. There presence in trains should be strictly prohibited. more

its quite common at red lights. these transgenders force themselves into autos if you are travelling in one and will not leave you till you hand over some money. god forbid if you leave your car window open. they will put their hand inside so that we cant close it. having a marriage in the family or a kid becomes a crime. these transgenders sit infront of your house and will not leave till you give them a decent amount. the range can be as high as 50k more

Yes they are everywhere. But if you do not pay, what can they do. I have also faced this problem all over the country. But is is extortion. I regret I stick to my comment, based on my experience all over the country. more

Transgenders extort Rs.11000-51000/- from common man as shagun. They do not spare the couples who have been blessed with a baby girl. They spend luxurious life and move in AC Cars for extortion and hire normal persons to make a complete team for dancing. Their begging limit should be limited to Rs.2500/-. Many Panchayats had to pass this diktat as the problems created by them had crossed all limits. They should be given proper education/training by the Govt. to earn livelihood of their own. The begging should be banned throughout the country as in many States, mafia has entered this lucrative business. more
