Eye Rashes and Remedies
Top Home Remedies To Cure Eye Rash:
If you have come down with an eye rash, you really don?t need to run to the doctor! With these home remedies, you can treat your eye rash effectively.
1. Chamomile:
Chamomile is very useful when it comes to treating most kinds of inflammation. To relieve irritation due to eye rash, make a concoction by adding one teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers in a cup of boiled water. After the flowers have steeped into the liquid and the solution is cold, use it as an eyewash or compress.
2. Cold Compress:
This is the most soothing remedy of all. All you need is a pack of ice. You can also make a makeshift ice pack by wrapping a few ice cubes in a clean cotton towel. Gently place it on the closed eyelid and remember not to press down the cotton towel. It helps in reducing irritation due to rashes. It also reduces redness or swelling.
3. Cucumber Slices:
Cucumber is another soothing remedy for eye rash. All you have to do is cut up the cucumbers in thick slices and soak them in cold water. Now place these cold cucumber slices on your eyes. The slices would warm up. As soon as they become warm, discard them and place another couple of slices on your eyes. Repeat this process until all the slices have been used up.
4. Witch Hazel:
Witch hazel is an old American Indian remedy for inflammation. It has astringent properties that help in reducing swelling. Dip cotton balls in witch hazel and dab gently on your eyes to find relief from eye rash and its related symptoms.
5. Aloe Vera:
Aloe vera is also known to have astringent properties. Just mix aloe vera pulp with cold water, soak a cotton ball in it and place on the affected eye. It soothes the rash and reduces inflammation too.
6. Frozen Peas:
Frozen peas or any other vegetables always help in reducing swelling by constricting blood flow in the local blood vessels. Wrap the frozen bag in a towel and place on the eye for 10 minutes to get relief from swelling and itching.
7. Castor Oil:
Buy a clean dropper, preferably from the pharmacy. Use the dropper to administer one drop of pure castor oil in each eye. This reduces inflammation and swelling, which are part and parcel of an eye rash.
8. Rose Water:
Rose water also helps in soothing an eye rash. But do not administer it directly into the eye; instead, soak a cotton ball in it and place on the eyelids.
9. Potato:
This may sound like a weird remedy, but potato?s astringent properties help in reducing inflammation. Grate a potato and place it on the eye in the form of a poultice. Keep it on for 15 minutes to reduce the eye rashes.
10. Saline Solution:
Saline solution or artificial tears help to clean the eyes. Add a couple of drops of the solution to the eye twice a day to wash away all sorts of impurities as well as pathogens.
Apart from these home remedies, it is necessary to follow simple hygienic routines to keep your eyes rash free. For example:
Discard old eye makeup products like eye liners, mascara and eye shadow if they have exceeded their expiration or use by date.
Clean contact lenses thoroughly every day.
Apply skin moisturizer with soft cotton balls every night before going to sleep.
Also test if certain makeup products suit you by doing a test patch on your hand. If a rash erupts, try another brand of makeup.
These simple precautionary tips go a long way in keeping rashes at bay. more
