Fan checking
In India no one checks their fans regularly for wear and tear.
See attached. Someone I know was sitting right opposite to where his blade flew. It could have hit him on the head. It broke a piece of the wall beam.
All such products like fans etc that can cause death or injury must be subject to stringent product safety and maintenance standards.
Consumers affairs Department and BIS must actively educate consumers. more

This seems to be material/workmanship quality issue with the fan. Equally important is to periodically check the hook/nut/bolt/security pin that hold the fan to the ceiling. They are more prone to failure. more

This is a direct result of poor material which failed due fatigue, it is definitely not due to any installation issues as pointed out by Mr KC Rana. Request to publish the brand of this fan so future accidents can be saved more

Regular cleaning of the fans can give an indication for any such incident. I don't think Consumer Affairs dept or BIS has anything to do with this unless its a new/not so old fan. more
