Fantastic survey by LocalCircles on airline seat charges

Yesterday someone in my mom’s school group shared the LocalCircles survey in charges for seats in flights.

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/airline-prepaid-seat-charges

I and husband with kids went to Kerala few months back and we sat on seperate seats because we didnt prepay. It’s extortion by airlines.

Everyone should share their pains and the Govt must act. The aviation minister cant say I am
Here to facilitate airlines. He has to protect consumers interest too which he has been an utter failure on so far. more

In such cases all co passengers extend helping hand and evsn offer exchange of seats. After all we are Indiands. more
Yes, sometimes it pinches us. Govt. should frame policy to discipline the private airlines that may give a big relief to users. No airline offers any compensation for their fault so they shouldn't charge for any facility provided to passengers. more
It is really embarrassing, and this is certainly extortion of passengers. they are intentionally allocating free seats to family members at two different corners of the plane so that they tend to secure their seats in next trip. By applying such practices airlines are earning only pennies and creating great loss for their future prospects. They are creating worst experience for their passengers and consequently they are losing loyalty of their own customers too. Any business can flourish and grow for long only if it is mutually rewarding for both i.e. itself and its customers. Once its customers start feeling cheated, downfall of the business may already have started. I think top management of these airlines are relocated to back seats and bankers’ financers or advisors has occupied the decision-making process and they are indulged in milking or sucking the organisation / customer to generate as much profits as possible in short term by sacrificing long term prospective of business. By adopting such malpractices airlines are likely digging their own graves. more
For 2 hr journey, we should not create a fuss. more
What about old/weak/sick/invalid persons who need someone at a hands length as companion on a flight! Duration of flight is immaterial in those cases. more
Airlines are private business like any other. The government has no business of telling them what to do. You are still stuck in the socialist, government run mindset. Every time you start attacking the private business and ask for price control, think of why Air India under government control failed and the taxpayers had to spend money for the free stuff like what you asking for. No one is forcing you to travel by air, that is not extortion. Please look up the definition of extortion before you accuse a private business of that. more
