Farmers setting fields on fire

nearly 650 incidents of residue burning events have already been detected across the state. Plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the paddy fields on both sides of National Highway 7 that connects Bathinda and Sangrur to Patiala, among the major hotspots for stubble burning.

Farmers dont have seeders. They are saying “ Aag lagao, aur beejo”

In 10 days expect 400 AQI in delhi ncr. 1000 on diwali night again. more

Not condoning this, but throughout the year, vehicles, especially those running on diesel cause immense pollution! Diesel cars, compared with petrol vehicles, are allowed 7 times as much pollution! Can anybody justify that, when those owning such vehicles are rich, can afford EVs! Farmers have the excuse of economic compulsions. Even government run public transport has long since shifted to the cleaner CNG, or in the case of metro train, electric. Freight too being transported more via trains and pipelines. Government could offer better price for stubble to farmers, and use biomass in industrial energy requirements. Private industry already doing so. more
The one and only reason for spiralling aqi to deadly killer levels is the stubble burning that no government whether state or central has been able to control ... The Rest are all excuses ... The vehicles running on Delhi roads causing killer aqi is only the scapegoat ... The aqi would remain the same through out the year and during different seasons despite the vehicles ... if only the stubble burning was eliminated and crackers ban implemented honestly. Unfortunately it's all about uncaring politicians and bad governance ... they are getting away with it only because the voice of the citizens is not powerful enough to hold them responsible. I urge all the members of esteemed circles like LC to raise their voice and save the lives of little children of this city. more
Delhi elected AAP Government. Sh Kejriwal is CM Panjab Elected AAP Government. Sh Bhagwant Maan is CM, Supported by Sh Raghav Chaddha and Sh Kejriwal. If elected Governments work or do not work for the welfare their electorate, what is the problem? You need to wait for 5 years or till the time of next elections, and then elect wisely/unwisely. more
Delhites will blame farmers, but will not improve its own house. Over one crore vehicle in Delhi run at an average speed of 15 km / hour. Govt with administrative measures can increase it to 45KM / hour. This will mean that one crore engines will run only for 1/3rd of existing time and pollution generation will reduce by 2/3rd. But govt and administration does not want to work hard way. Its far easier for them to blame poor farmers without giving them support. All look for escape routes and short-cuts. P.R.Bhardwaj more
And then they will start showing strictness to Delhi-ites, as if it is our mistake. One hand it is AAP govt in Punjab, and they are not able to govern, and kejrival will try to punish Delhi for that. Is this governance or what? And when shall Indian public, Delhi public wake up? Even bjp has not protested, when Delhi govt said 'no puc, no fuel'. Know why? more
