Farmer's suicide
Most important reason for farmer's suicide seems to be crop failure. Debts and huge interest rates are also prime killers. Farmers in almost all states have taken to drinking and sometimes gambling too, which drains their income and they get into a vicious circle of more debts. Family problems are also one of the major reasons behind their taking extreme step. As they are alone working in their small piece of land, they do not get the luxury of friendship to share their owes. Property disputes suck their energy and drain of their little wealth. Some of the farmers succumb to this for they haven't saved for their daughter's wedding. Daughter's marriage seems to be a trigger.
During 2001 to 2011 every year on an average 16,743 have died, that is 46 farmers have committed suicide daily during that period. more

This is a very serious issue on hand, which is being made use of to political points over the Govt. Though the GOI is pro poor it is being portrayed as otherwise. The Government must appoint an expert committee of eminent persons as their members and analyse the ways and means of eradicating this malice. They should do it very soon without loss of time more

Farmers shall get good returns in term of money so as they no need to go for any loan. if at all Govt need to provide loans to farmers so as in case of natural disasters. repayment of loan can be avoided, and some financial benefit can be provided form govt. regarding the suicide i am very much shock as people are taking video of his suicide and no one stopped him or rescued him. and now it become bad politics more

Small farmers should not be farming using borrowed money. Farming is a risky business due to its dependence on the weather. Therefore small land owning farmers should sell their land and join some other profession. more

Let us seriously think rehabilitation of farmers with out politicizing issue as farmers suicide is due to nature's disaster.I suggest that those small farmers land insurance can bear by govt.or land compensation be made apart from job provision for one member in a family by acquiring such lands. At least they will have assured income as job is provided to one of them.Forget the media's hue &cry as they won't give any solution.I invites our circle members view on this in a frank manner. more
