Fasting and PP

I have a query. When we do fasting glucose test after that we do PP. Suppose I am taking medicine after breakfast, Shall I take the medicine after breakfast and do the PP after 2 hours. Or do I have not to take the medicine and do the PP. Am just a bit confused. Actually I used to give blood fasting and then take food and submit my sample after 2 hours without taking medicine. But someone advised me yesterday that u have to take medicine which u normally take and then give blood after 2 hours. more

Go for H1bc test at least once in a 6 month and if your reading is less than 5, you may need not take medicine. Take this test and show it your doctor. The doctor is best judge to recommend you further treatment. Type 2 is reversible. more
Take medicines as prescribed even when you are to take PP blood test. This would help you understand whether your sugar level is under control with the help of the prescribed medicines. This would also help the physician to understand how you have been responding to the given dose of medicines. He would refix the dose if necessary . more
you should take medicines as usual on test day also. more
Dont skip dinner. It will lead to lowering of sugar and I think also increase on ketones. Take either fruit or any salad. But at least eat something to keep ur stomach full. more
Path labs are no saints. Some time back there was a Kerala enquiry report which gives slightly above normal reports without actually testing specimen. Gov medical college and public health labs are usually safe. Best is to give it where automated testing machines are installed. If in doubt a second test in another lab may be useful. My wife use a glucometer. more
