Fictitious MRP issue

MRP is the root cause of corruption and consumer fleecing. Per a very senior medical industry professional, About ten years ago, the hospitals used to procure medicines based on procurement price and quality but now Now, the criteria is MRP price.

So company that published MRP of 2000 on an item where sale price to wholeseller/hospital is 400 rupees is bound to get the business. This supplier gives decent kick backs to senior doctors or hospital promoters in terms of payment or benefits like foreign trips etc.

So till the department of consumer affairs, legal metrology department or whatever else department doesnt fix a methodology that says MRP can only be X% above trade price or even average selling price, this mega corruption will go on..

Question is - will the Government act for Consumers or be a passive listener more

Can this issue be addressed please? The pandemic has given many examples more
During last 6 months we have discussed on the issue not less than 100 times. There is no point in sending a new post on the same matter every alternate day. The nation has thousands of issues. Let us discuss on some new ones. more
Unless the commodity falls under the list of essential commodity and life saving drugs, it is the prerogative of the industry to decide on the profits and the selling prices. Govt cannot decide as to how much the MRP should be affixed. Otherwise also should we feel that the Govt representative would be honest enough and cannot be bribed. How Govt can dictate the industry to earn only x% of the profit. MRP should be treated as the capped price and let the consumer do little bit survey at the time of purchase of commodities at the best prices except for essential life saving medicines where it is not possible to buy only from the cheapest source. more
IN CURRENT TIMES THERE IS NO SANCTITY OF MRP AS IS EVIDENT FROM ALL THE DISCOUNT SALES AROUND US.WE AS A CUSTOMER ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE AS OUR GREED FOR DISCOUNT KNOWS NO LIMITS.THE CONCEPT OF FAIR PRICE IS ABSENT. more
Fixing MRP should not be left to the company alone.Govt rep should be involved in this and to be decided. more
