With the mushrooming of builders, the officials of planning department has become a puppet in the hands of builders. They are offered bribes in the shape of money or flat in the name of relatives and get their irregularities approved. For individuals the sanction of plan takes months together, but for builders the plans get approved immediately. It is a good thing in Odisha that the Government has started reviewing the decisions in allotment of land and many officials are alleged to have been entangled in the process. Once action is taken against the erring officials, others may get stream lined. more

I have earlier written that the Agency does not have transparency in their operation. Unless the transparency is build up in the operations (through the use of technology), it is extremely difficult to improve the current situation..... For this political and administrative will is needed.... Citizens can raise voice through representations to the highest political chair of the state .... or through other consumer forums ..... more
