First Cry - another MRP violator
I dont understand why legal metrology officials fail to take action against charging of tax or gst above a MRP that has discount.
See this firstcry website. They levy gst on top of discounted mrp. Worse they show price but no MRP. Its clear violation of packaged products law.

Government should establish websites for reporting violations and then they should initiate actions immediately. more

@Jyoti Dutta: No one in the Legal Metrology would be taking any action unless the specific complaint is written to the Controller. This is the ground reality and therefore I request all members to kindly send a written complaint. It is very easy and start inculcating habit of at least send complaints by email. May be at some point of time, some activist at least take the matter under RTI. more

Charging GST on discounted price is rampant even on Malls. For example Central Mall in Bangalore always charges GST extra on discounted prices. Talking to the payment counter persons does not have any effect. Will the legal metrology officers take a note of these illegal practices? more

We need to understand: 1. The price on any packaged commodity is the MRP irrespective of whether the word MRP is written or not. 2. Any cutting on the MRP by showing it less than any printed price mentioned become revised MRP. 3. The MRP or revised MRP is inclusive of taxes. 4. If we are thinking the Govt would take action for violation on suo-motto basis that would be like staying in fools paradise. We need to write a specific complaint to the authorities. So we need to make a specific complaint along with copy of the invoice and snap of the commodities showing MRP. more

Let the MRP enforcement squad or the legal metrology officials look into such glaring examples and initiate action at the earliest. more
