First Survey after Dharna shows support for AAP

Has the Delhi dharna undermined chief minister Arvind Kejriwal? An exclusive NDTV survey, in which we sample opinion not just in the national capital but also in Bangalore and Mumbai, shows that the majority backs the protest, but does not think Delhi Police should report to state government.

Following are the results of the survey:

Of all the respondents, about two-thirds approved of Mr Kejriwal as a very good or good chief minister. 58% of the people surveyed in Delhi said so but it was in Mumbai that Mr Kejriwal seems have have his highest approval ratings.

Slightly over half of all respondents think it was correct for Mr Kejriwal to go on a dharna. That number is significantly higher in Mumbai (58%) than in Delhi (51%).

When asked - 'Who would make the best chief minister for Delhi?' - almost two thirds of the people in the capital backed Mr Kejriwal, 23% backed BJP's Harsh Vardhan and just 9% said former chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

In what may come as a surprise to Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party, 56% of respondents in Delhi were against the state government controlling the city's police force. This was one of the main demands of Mr Kejriwal during his 33-hour dharna this week.

But as AAP eyes the Lok Sabha polls in three months from now, they can draw strength from the fact that their support base in Delhi is intact. More than half of the respondents from the capital said they'd vote for AAP if assembly polls were to be held again.

AAP govt is absolutely on track and what is happening was obvious, such mistakes will keep happening. We definitely need to pick up new subjects which can improve engagements with the aam aadmi. One such subject could be issues consumers are facing from banks, police and even large corporates. more
I am agree that AAP ministers might have made some mistakes.this is also fact that those who try some thing make mistakes not those does not act at all. And media who was ignoring AAP prior to assembly election has now started -ve campaign against AAP. Media is completely ignoring the +ve steps taken by delhi govt and it after effects like corruption. In the long run dividend of all these steps will be huge on national level. more
I agree and again want to make this point we all have to contribute to this individually and not just AAP.. AAP has shown that if common people want there are ways..its only about how strong and committed we are with our thoughts ..I really thank AAP for demonstrating this statement.. Still Im little concerned how we can contribute and also show to the word that we support AAP and we all understand the traditional political parties dont want common man to come out and for that they can do anything to stop AAP. Im still strugling to come out with a way to balance by professional life which is also very important and also to contribute in this movement. Please share your thoughts to help. Anyway..one thing is very clear we all have to make this people movement sucessfull as this is an excellent chance for all of us to improve are life style and give a good future to our children. more
That is music to ears. I fell, rather than waging a fight on the transfer of DP to Delhi, which is logical per Constitution, Seventh Schedule (State List), AAP should consolidate its position with solid performance in Delhi and demonstrate good governance for the welfare of all sections. If corruption comes down and efficiency goes up, the country will become a real global leader in all Millenium Development Goals and all metrics. Jai Hind. more
