All loopholes to be tied up and Wallmart should be made to pay required taxes immediately. If not we can suspect the intentions of People at the helm of affairs more  

Once i met an executive of Wal-Mart on a visit to India. Their operation model is very interesting. They enter into a long term contract with producers and guarantee to pick up full production and protect prices through the year. Where needed they provide technical assistance , bulk buy raw material and even financial support. For example all the produce of a farm is purchased through the year at the agreed price. Farmer is provided high yielding seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, storage facility e t c Price to customer is lower throughout the year. I was hoping malls like Reliance, Big Bazzar will do so. But they depend upon middlemen. In Wal-Mart model middlemen are out. I consulted with a company who produces for a multi national at predetermined price. Any branch of the company keep sending their requirement and schedule. Payment is sent by local branch in India as per agreed terms and goods picked up. This company is operating this way for 25 YEARS. more  

Totally agree with Niranjan Nanavaty .. Do you know how much Margins our so-called Dear Indian Distributors & retailers are making ?? Typical Factory to MRP Margin is 30-50% !! How many of your Purchases have been at much below the so-called MRP ?? Have you ever seen one of them not residing in the choicest of Bunglows/Apartments, having multiple Vehicles and yet not offering you any Discount or Credit normally ?? Singapore & USA have become what they are only because of Free Trade !! We should stop these Limits & Conditions for FDI etc. as we need non-India Money to grow !! more  

India is a vast country and this fear appears unfounded. We should get rid of this outdated notions. Competition will improve marketers to look for innovative ways to succeed. We have sheltered our business for far too long. Some of these should grow large enough to spread wings beyond Indian shores. Our technology companies prospered because Govt kept out of it. more
